| | How many apps can be deployed in 256 Mb ?
I saw the CNET review and it said, the apps can be saved only in phone's main memory, which is 256 Mb. What's the average size of an app and how many can be saved in that memory ?

Many of the apps I've seen are 1Mb or lower, I have seen a couple that were MB+, so you're gonna have plenty of room for apps. Many of the 8900s come out of the box with 130mb+ application memory available.

i always think of 256mb as being nothing - thinking it won't store a lot because on a computer that really is nothing! but on a phone its quite a bit!

It should have been a gig. But it is what it is. It doubles the Storm's app memory, so it's an improvement.

Doesn't the Bold have 1GB? RIM couldve hooked us up with at least half of that for the Tour. Its all good though, not a deal breaker....

No. The Tour has more app memory than the Bold. The Bold has an extra 1gb of internal storage for music and such, while the Tour does not.

The tour has the most addressable memory of any BlackBerry to date, the Bold just has 1GB of storeage added to its 128 addressable memory, you need addressable memory to run Apps, or a program that will move an app into addressable memory to operate then move it back to storable memory.
It would have been nice of Rim to include 1024MB storable memory in addition to the 256 addressable memory. and the OS to be smart enough to put things in the right place, like my contacts, pictures, ringtones in the storeable, programs, and applications in the addressable rather then me choosing where things go.

I think 256 MB is plenty for installing any apps you want to keep around. You just need to weed out anything you stop using after a while, is all.
For comparison, the iPhone has (around) 8 GB, but the average app size hovers between 5-10 MB due to the 10 MB wireless download limit.
BB apps tend to be much smaller ( AFAIK), so 256 MB goes a lot further.

Does anyone know how much addressable memory the 8330 has?
