Default I REALLY didnt wanna make a thread of this...but i cant help it...

First off i must say that in NO way am i trying to stir up some sh*t...im just so incredibly baffled by what i experienced today that i must vent to someone...

I finally got to try a DROID today, and all i must say is: Really? REALLY?!! This is the phone that has received a God status among mobile devices before release?! A freaking brick with a touch screen?!!

What...the...f**k...

From the moment i held it in my hands, hate flowed through my veins...disgust for the fact that almost EVERYONE told me to my face that this phone would be something special. That this phone would make me drop my S2 in a heartbeat like i did with my iPhone for the S2. ****, even the statement that this phone would be an iPhone killer makes me laugh...

I cant believe the thought even crossed my mind that i would ever drop my S2 for this abomination of a device.

The one saving grace i would say about this troll with widgets is that the screen lived up to the hype. It was quite possibly the most beautiful screen i have ever seen displayed on a mobile device. But not even that is enough to make me even consider the DROID to be my paperweight...

I know a choice for a phone is all about preference/taste...the only reason that i was so baffled by this was the fact that it was hyped beyond belief, hyped to an Omega status among mobile devices to the point that almost everyone was saying that all phones should follow in the DROID's wake...and that was before the damn thing was released!

*sigh*
Ok, i think im done now...

It is big and clunky looking and in no way is it close to = to an IPhone 3GS. The screen is pretty but thats about it. Its a good start but with its big size staggering weight and with NO 3G for international calling use its just a fancy little computer toy right now. It will get better when new full feature handsets come on line in the year to come, just not this one yet.

Its ok I felt the same way. Its gross. The screen is sexy, but that's it. Unfortunately, its not like an ugly girl, you can't just put a paper bag over it..

An opening post like the OP's before the release would've made this thread reach like 5 or 6 pages by now of aggressive back and forth's with some name calling thrown in for hurt feelings measure. Now, after the release, it's hard to argue with people's personal opinion. Also, a lot of the opinions that Im seeing from rational, impartial people are that the Droid is not what the dream had claimed itself to be and after the release it has become harder to argue how the phone is so much better. Its almost like people got the idea in their head that a phone from motorola, running a new OS, would not have problems. Where would they get the idea is beyond me. I personally believe it stems from that same kind of arrogance that drives them to categorize people's worth to the type of phone they have.

"From the moment I held it in my hands, hate flowed through my veins.."

Yeah, glad you gave it a chance and actually tried the device out. If you didn't like the hardware on the Droid, you could have easily tested out the Eris, which seems like it would suit your tastes.

Anyways, enjoy your Storm. I'm sure people with Droids don't care that you think their phone is a toy. They'll just laugh at you while doing everything better.

And the old browsing speed song and dance doesnt work for me since I carry a netbook most of the time and am on the net enough during the day. My phone was never meant to replace it and I might have a different set of priorities. Its all a matter of needs or opinion though. You might need it so thats cool that it works out for you. The things that it can do/do better than my Storm 2 is not enough for me to purchase it and the things my Storm 2 does well is enough for me to keep it. This is not towards you Bearkat, but people need to stop forcing phones down others throats. Thats the carriers job.

Same for me. I use my mini laptop with a 4G Sprint air card in it and nothing can touch that for web browsing. I don't use a phone to surf the net they are all to slow after using a laptop and 4G service. I need a Great phone with a good push e mail system not a fancy screen to watch youtube on. Without international calling capability I can't even consider the Droid today. The Droid is more of an internet device than it is a phone really. Its still not the complete pkg that I need for sure. Right now the Berry's serve me well with great phone features and push e mail that is second to NONE! Like I said maybe one day they will get the Android phones packaged right, but right now its just a kids toy as I see it.

I couldn't agree more, the kids are probably gonna be the ones getting the most use of this right now with the "multimedia" aspect of it, but as far as business use it may have some, but it currently can't stand up to a BB when it comes down to business. Not saying that it won't see future improvements either, look where we came from with the Storm. And that folks is just "MY OPINION" before all the retards start flaming.

Hey Caveman, I don't think that you are alone in your thoughts. I was at the Verizon shop on the Droids launch day and got to mess around with it. Unlike with my Storm (1), I was not drawn to the device. While can say that the interface is nice, the browser is fast and the keyboard is great for those who want one. I just could not warm up to the Droid. The Storm on the other hand sucked me right in. The Phone's call quality is great, Push email is fast and effecient and the design of the Storm is comfortable for me. I love rhapsody on this phone. I don't play games or whatch movies on it and I'm not an apps *****. So, pretty much, I'm good with my Storm.

I must confess though, while most where drooling over the Droid. I was in deeply enthralled with the Storm 2. That will be next on my list.

I wasn't impressed enough to make me drop my storm1 for it. I actually liked the look of the Droid Egis a lot better. I did like the star droid app for it but I am sure someone will develop it for the storm.

No offense meant to the OP but I want to thank the mod who moved this thread. There has been so many Droid vs Storm2 threads and some of them have gotten vicious. I hope this practice continues, although I thought rants and raves should be where they would be moved too, but hey, it's not my call.
