Default Problems with Calendar synchronizing to Outlook 2003

Hello, new guy here. I have had my 8350i curve for almost a year and have never synch'd anything but my email.

Recently, I tried to synch my calendar and contacts. I was unsuccessfull. using the blackberry desktop manager, using the sychronize configure, the boxes appear for calendar, contacts, etc... Outlook was not there as an option to use, just yahoo messenger and something like ascotII. I went into my pc (windows xp, outlook 2003) into the control panel, internet options and was able to set outlook as the program for the contacts, but in the box that's next to calendar, it's blank or "blue" no options to select outlook

After I selected outlook addresses for my contacts, I was able to go back into blackberry desktop manager and synchronize my contacts. still no luck with calendar!

I found mention of this problem on the microsoft website, but no fix, just that Outlook1998 doesn't have this problem. Unfortunately, I couldn't switch outlook programs even if I wanted to as I am on a network computer at my office (I did log in as the admin, but still got the dreaded blue box when I went to select outlook as the calendar in internet properties)

has anyone encountered this or know of a fix?

sorry for the longwinded first post, but I have been living this for 2 days and no luck.

Kevin

The only time I've ever had a problem with sync was cause by the facebook app. There is some conflict with that calendar and and syncing with outlook. Other than that, Outlook is always in my calendar sync options.

when you first go into the config in the symc section of the DM, a window pops up. you have 4 choices calendar, memo, address, task... do you have the calendar checked?

Yes, all 4 are checked: calendar, memopad, taskes, address book

calendar, memopad, tasks all have nothing to the right of them. when I click setup on all three, I am given 3 choices for the application: None, ascII importer/exporter, and yahoo. Outlook is not listed.

for the address book, outlook appears.

there maybe an IT policy in place that will not let you sync your calendar. talk to your IT guy to find out. BTW you have BES.

My boss has the same blackberry, same email server, same network, and his calendar is synched. I think it's time to get the IT guy involved..he's a contractor who comes in now and then. I will get him next time through.
