help | Do you have memory cleaning disabled? Also what programs are you running in the background of the phone while this is happening?

help | It's a memory leak, and a 3rd party app is probably responsible, plus the OS itself is not fully optimized but most of the leaks have helped with it. Really it's up to RIM to fix it, and/or make it better. There will probably always be SOME leakage. What I do, and I added this as tip 5, is to a memory clean up routine. You can do it WITH ot without a battery pull. Here's the tip...
Tip 5 Memory Clean up!
Step 1 Clear Browser Caches (this helps when the BB won't do backups sometimes). Open the BB Browser, Press the BB button, selection Options, then Cache Operations, then clear out all 4 areas.
Step2 Enable & Use Memory Cleaning (You only need to enable once, or after an update of the OS). Click Options, then Security Options, then Memory Cleaning, first set it to enable, then when you do my clean up routine, just press the BB button and select Clean Now (After Clicking on Memory Cleanup).
Step 3 Clear the Java log. From the homescreen, press the BB button, and select show keyboard (in landscape) hold the !?123 button to lock in then press "/"/ (or if in portrait ,5,5), then press the BB button and select clear log.
Step 4 Battery Pull (optional) for max effect.

i have a good tip
The importance of a Battery Pull...
A battery pull is a way of resetting the device to regain lost memory and to start fresh. Doing a battery pull will usually fix most minor issues.
A battery pull consists of:
removing the battery cover
removing the battery while the device is still on
waiting 15 seconds
and re-inserting the battery
The phone will take anywhere between 2 and 6 minutes to reboot itself.
Once rebooted the device will run clean and fresh. It is recommended to do a battery pull once a day or more (depending on your memory loss)
A helpful program that can do this for you can be found here QuickPull | Personal Productivity BlackBerry Software
Run the app and it will ask you if you would like to reset your device. select yes and then select reboot now. Its the same thing as a battery pull without having to take out the actual battery.

I ran the diagnostics test a few minutes ago and then tried again to send email from outlook express to my blackberry account, but I still get a delivery status notification email back saying it can't be delivered.
Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table'
How long should it take to start working after you run the diagnostics?
This is the email I get sent when trying to reply to the email from my BB.
The following message to <drzeran@bell.blackberry.net> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.1.1 <drzeran@bell.blackberry.net>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table'

Sounds like you MAY need to go to your providers BIS site and delete and then re-add that email address here's a link to take you there.... https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=bell |

| | Storm Issues
I think this is a great thread. I was wondering if maybe you might have some answers for me on a few issues I have with this phone.
1: My Visual Voice Mail even when turned up all the way; the sound is really low. I have to use it in speaker mode to hear anything. I have upgraded the software to the 114 hybrid 2 but it was still the same quality when I had the factory software installed.
2: Does anyone know of a way to disable the acceloramator? I dont really like it that much and would rather have it in suretype mode all the time.
3: When talking on the phone I often rest the phone between my ear and shoulder. I always end up pushing the screen and muting or similar. Is there a way to disable the touch screen during a phone call?
I belive that is all for now but other than that, I love the phone.
Thanks again for your help...

pk.. i just wanted to thank you for making this thread and being such a helping hand on CB. I have seen you answer questions all over the place and would just like to thank you for not being like the rest of the regulars on this site and bashing, yelling and using the word "search" as an answer to anything.
ps.. great list so far | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
