| | A guide to make your storm BETTER.
This is just going to be a little write up that will increase all aspects of your storm use. It will make it faster and have the battery life last much much longer. Something will have already of been mentioned but this will be a gathering of the info.
1. Delete all apps that you are not going to use. go to OPTIONS>ADVANCED OPTIONS>APPLICATIONS>HIGHLIGHT APP>DELETE . Do this to all of your unwanted apps , for example the only apps i have are : 4.7 core / 4.7 soft / BBerry attachment/ BBM/ Bolt/ Browser / capture it/ phone / and quick pull. as of now i am sitting at 61 MB of memory hide all the other icons keeping a main 4 not 8 there is a big speed difference in the two.
2.If you dont now use GPS, go to OPTIONS>ADVANCED OPTIONS> click GPS SERVICES > CHANGE TO E911> this will increase your battery life significantly.
3. Change your network to 1xev instead of global. This is increase battery life, over all proformance and gets rid of the faild sim message. Go to OPTIONS> MOBILE NETWORK> CLICK NETWORK TECHNOLOGY > SELECT 1XEV.
4.This one is simple yet effective, by lowering you backlight lever by even 30 it saves alot of battery with out much notice. OPTIONS> KEYBOARD/SCREEN > BACKLIGHT > SET IT TO 60.
5. This is disabling your even log , also seems to save battery and increase speed. turn your phone to landscape mode , MENU> SHOW KEYBORED> TYPE /"/"/ > even log will then pop up >CLICK MENU CLEAR LOG > THEN MENU > PROPERTIES > CLICK ON THE FIRST ITEM IN THE LIST > MENU HIDE ALL TYPE.
By taking the steps above you will get the most out of your storms i know there is this info outthere but its spread out. so here is a little step by step compressed guide.
(ALSO : if your having alot of problems with the media card error then verizon screen , simply take out the media card , boot the phone and put the card back in.)

Good post, but I would add discalimer that some of your "tweaks" will greatly decrease what the user can do with his BB.
Battery life and free memory are nice, but there is a purpose to a blackberry for many users and gps, bluetooth and productivity apps are a big part of it's appeal.

Thanks for the event log tip. I kept reading about it but never found the way to actually clear it...correctly.

Battery life and free memory are nice, but there is a purpose to a blackberry for many users and gps, bluetooth and productivity apps are a big part of it's appeal. | the only issue is the gps , and as said if you dont use , its a good increase.

Nice list. Thanks. But why would changing GPS to E911 increase battery life? It doesn't run in the background on any of my programs.
