if you want to see the email the way it's supposed to be seen (meaning you're missing the images on HTML emails), you can just click on the blackberry button and then select "get images". it doesn't work 100% of the time but i'd say pretty much 99%. the links on the images would work as well.

It sure would be nice if IMAP worked FROM outlook TO g-mail rather than only the other way around. It seems to me that most people would want it that way...to be able to delete work e-mails outside the office from a personal account.

The hotmail accounts aren't even an issue. Those are easy. It's the two Outlook based accounts that are giving me a freakin migraine.

If you have outlook web access for your exchange server you can setup your bis account to use that.

I do something similar except I store them as emails and archive them. That way I can easily search out a login and sync my contacts with gmail

Because I am so accustomed to gmail I am using the Gmail App- Its not bad on my storm and I feel like I can stay organized with it more this way. Not to say I don't LOVE the push email (I use my vzw.blackberry.net alot)

Anyone ever have an issue with the gmail app putting line breaks in your messages? My sent mail always came out with only about 20 characters per line ... found this rather annoying.

Thought I would post my solution for those who may be interested.

MAIL:

I decided that having 4 addresses consolidated into gmail using labels to organize was not the best solution.....way too cumbersome. Instead, I did the following:

My two hotmail accounts-I forwarded one to the other. Then I found a great site that allowed me to turn my hotmail account into a POP3 account, which in turn allowed me to access it via gmail:

I then used this advice to combine my sent items between my two hotmail accounts, then load them into my gmail account:

Import Your Hotmail Messages into Gmail

Now my gmail grabs my hotmail, and the process works fast enough for my tastes. I set up my gmail to be able to send mail as my hotmail ids.

For my personal business account, which is through worldclient, I just set it up via BIS.

For my work account, I set that up via BIS since we do use Outlook Web Access.....I wanted to avoid having to leave my computer on 24/7 and we don't have BES at my organization.


CONTACTS AND CALENDAR:

I have google sync for for my phone to my gmail account, which works great back and forth. As far as the calendar goes, I also downloaded google calendar sync to my desktop to one way sync my from my work computer to my personal gmail account. The calendar works flawlessly thus far.

My contacts were all in hotmail. I combined the two of them since hotmail is actually pretty useful (moreso than google from what I can tell) for finding duplicates and merging them. Once I got them cleaned up I put them back into google contacts and synced everything back up.

I STILL HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT THE BEST WAY TO ACCESS AND UTILIZE THE GLOBAL ADDRESS LIST FROM MY WORK ACCOUNT, so.......if anyone can help with that it would be much appreciated!

Aside from the Gmail App "Con" of the lack of push mail, i've found that attachments do not open correctly via the app (including ppt/doc files where the doc-to-go icon appears, but the file opens as plain text).
I think i saw an earlier post saying that the Gmail app does not show attachments properly, but i've noticed that no one on the thread seems to have issues like this when using the Gmail App.

Am i missing something?

From my experience, the gmail app would not download attachments or launch links. These were my main reasons for switching to the BB mail, even though it only has one-way syncing from imap

I have all my pop email set to go to Gmail and have that pushed to my phone. Just convenient for me that way.

I have it setup thru BIS using IMAP setup properly and I also use the Gmail app. Each way has pros/cons. Notes on both:

BIS Gmail:
•You can copy/paste text easily. Can't even select text in the gmail app and it's very annoying.
•Use the BB Contacts to email anyone accross multiple BIS accounts you setup. Gmail app uses the gmail contacts specific to each gmail account and syncing each of them to your BB contacts list is a tedious pain. May not be a negative for you depending on how you look at it
•Use 3rd party apps to handle attachments or create tasks/memos. Can't in the gmail app.
•Usually displays HTML email a bit better with pictures. Gmail not so much.

In Gmail app:
•Enable and view your labels and corresponding messages.
•View any folder/labels you want including trash, sent items, starred, etc.. In BIS you can view sent items but thats it-no labels here.
•Gmail 'conversation view' makes it easy to follow a bunch of messages back and forth grouped together. Traditional approach in BIS setup.
•Search ALL messages in your Gmail. BIS search is limited to messages from the time you setup the account on the handheld until present. Often times emails are deleted from BB handheld after 60 days by default unless its changed by the user.

*Important note. Even though BIS gmail is IMAP, when a msg is deleted thru the gmail app it does not get reflected in the BIS account from my experience. If a msg is deleted from BIS gmail it does get reflected in the gmail app though. Read/Unread changes get relected either way though.
