I've used BlackBoard on my 8820 through Opera Mini. Works like a charm. I've downloaded files and etc. It even works in Mobile view. Haven't attempted to upload anything (Digital Dropbox) or use the online lecture functions, as my courses are asynchronous.

Though I wouldn't need it anymore... when I was in school Blackboard is all the professors used. I would have definitely used this.

This would be awesome, I use blackboard all the time. Great for any notifications for what's going on in class if you missed any. It's especially useful for online courses.

First post here....I am a professor at a college that uses Blackboard for everything (much to my chagrin) and a Blackboard app would be fantastic. Like digg, I have used it through Opera Mini and that works pretty well with most of the functionality as far as I know (I avoid Blackboard for most things, however, and am fighting a one-man crusade with my colleagues and IT people to shift to an alternative).

On a related note, this might be in the works according to an article on cdrinfo.com (I cannot post the link since this is my first post but if you google Blackboard and Blackberry, it will be one of the first hits).

I am also interested in a BlackBoard app for the Storm. Any college student Dev's out there ready to take on this task? It would be greatly appreciated. Keep this post moving.

I have had mixed results accessing BlackBoard from my native browser, Opera Mini, and Bolt.

My wish list is this:

1) A WAP version of the discussion boards with instant notification for all subscribed boards.

2) Download capability for all files and attachments.

3) The ability to edit content placed on BlackBoard including attaching files along with comments.

I use BlackBoard extensively. I would LOVE a dedicated app that acts as a portal between my Bold and BlackBoard.

The key issue is that the JAVA runtime environment (which most of the earlier versions of BlackBoard are based) is glitchy with smartphones in general.

BlackBoard NG promises to be different. It uses Web 2.0 technology and has ditched the JAVA environment. Let's see what they (or any enterprising developer) can create for BlackBerry users!

Hoping....
