Default Blackboard BlackBerry application for students

I'm debating whether or not to send an email to Blackboard (online software service) about perhaps making an app for students (me) to make it easier to access Blackboard and get the information we need to succeed. As far as I can tell it is a really popular tool for teachers and professors all over the U.S. to use. What do you all think?

Blackboard Homepage

For those of you who don't aren't familiar with it, blackboard is a utility that (currently) 4 out of my 5 professors use and rely on for us to retrieve assignments, documents, and grades. If I were to not refer to Blackboard at all throughout this semester, I would certainly fail all of my courses.

Default Terrific Idea

I believe that an app for Blackboard Academic Suite would be extremely useful since I, too, have four professors that adamantly use the website. I have tried to log on via the browser but without much success.

I consider this one a must have. Thank you for taking the initiative to help us students out here.

My whole University uses BlackBoard as their sole portal for EVERYTHING.

The University I went to used it...but the University I work at is moving towards an open source solution known as Moodle...

I think it would be great if more companies got involved in developing for the platform...but then they'd probably just charge the university more for it and then university's wouldn't be interested because they don't require blackberries.

Alright, so I just emailed them. I'm surprised this thread has gotten as much attention as it has; I was expecting it to fall to the bottom and get lost. Anyway, I just contacted them and my message goes something like this:

Quote:
Hi, I'm a student and have recently bought a BlackBerry (Storm). While there are a whole bunch of amazing applications, one seems to be missing: the Blackborad application. An application from you all would enable me to keep my classes very organized and get direct access to course documents, forms, etc. allowing me to be completely updated. Because Blackboard is used essentially nation-wide, it would be a win win situation for you all; in fact, it is a little unbelievable that it does not yet exist! In addition to all of that if you were to build an application for BlackBerry, I'm sure that RIM's sales figures would raise significantly because of all the parents that would want their kids to have this feature. Any way you look at it, you cannot lose. I know I'm willing to invest in you all, are you all willing to invest in me, the student?

I don't think I should've posted this thread in the storm 3rd party app section since I would like it to apply to all versions of BlackBerry phones, but I'm so used to coming into the storm forum; I've never really ventured outside, lol.

I would love to have this app. My school uses Blackboard for everything. I actually looked for a Blackboard app after I bought my first Blackberry.

Default Good Idea

My school used to have BlackBoard, but have changed to ANGEL, which is pretty much the same thing. Anyways, if they could make an app that would be really cool. Especially if they were to integrate the calender and e-mail section so when the profs added something to the calendar or sent out an e-mail it would show up as an alert on my BlackBerry.
