Default blackberry storm 9530 os 5.0 memory application

I have blackberry storm 9530. I have three applications on my phone. they are slacker radio, pandora, and app world. My application memory seems to run low considering I have only three applications. I have only between 30 to 20 free application memory space and somtimes it even goes down below 20. Does this sound right? I have heard some people say they have more than 50 free memory space even with a lot of application on their phone. Should I be having more than 20 free memory space with 3 applicaitons.

By the way, I get 30 free memory space with battery pull.

Those who have 50 mb have most likely shrunk their OS. Are you running a 3rd party theme? Are you completely closing your applications when exiting them? You can see what apps are running by pressing and holding your blackberry button for a few seconds. You will always have BBM, phone, browser, home, and mail running in background. I boot up at 35 mb, and have installed Quicklaunch, BerryBuzz, CB Launcher, Dial Voicemail, Fox News, Smart B Calendar, Weatherbug Elite, VZ Navigator and Youtube. I have deleted BBM since I don't use it. After 24 hours of not playing with settings, I stand around 30 MB.

3rd party themes cause memory leaks. I have tried a few and my memory drops from 35 to 23 in a matter of about an hour or so.

if you have 3 applications my advice to you is to not care . 2 MB is more than enough to run 3 apps ! having 20 MB is 10 times more than you need , does it matter enough that you need 20-30 times more than you need ? either way you have (once again) more memory than you need

Sorry, newb here. How do you know if you have a memory leak? Is it just from checking your free application memory? I have 18 third party apps plus a theme. Right now my free application memory reads 17.6mb. I'm not sure how often/by how much it drops but I will check it and post again. But from what I'm seeing, everyone seems to have much higher free memory. Do I just have a ridiculous amount of apps? Or a really bad memory leak? One other question, what are the pros and cons of shrinking your OS? Thanks so much for helping a lame newb!

the easiest way to find a leak is with meterberry. you can go their web site and I think they have something on how to find a leak.
