Default Unintentional Periods

I've done a few searches and haven't turned up anything, if someone knows of a thread to answer this question, please let me know!

When typing an email, text msg, etc... The Storm keeps adding random periods after whole words (ending a sentence and then the next word will start with a capital letter) REALLY getting annoying and I know I'm not hitting the period button. I am running OS 5.

Thnx for any ideas.

Are you hitting the space bar twice? That will generate a period as a "convenience."

I don't think so, but I'll watch myself and see if that's the problem. Is there a way to turn that option off?

Make sure your key rate isn't set too high either. If it's set to high if you hit the space bar for even half a second, you could end up with a period.

Quite a few of us on OS 5.0 have beenn having that problem. For me though I sometimes get extra letters or sometimes it leaves something out. However, it seems like lately it hasn't been doing it as much...weird...

Could be...lol!

I'm kind of getting the feeling that there is just something different in 5.0 that changes the way the virtual keys react and maybe it is just an adjustment in typing by the user? I have no idea other than I was getting periods about every 3rd word before along with the extra letters and such. No changes in key rate or anything either. It's weird because I didn't have that problem in 4.7 and then did in 5.0, but now less so.

I have this problem too, but is toy user error. It os you hovering over your space bar and accident touchon the screen even win no click. Then when you click your next letter, the space bar is highlighted, the click goes off and gives you a second spacecausing an auto period.

Your post was not clear. Are you saying that if you are touching the spacebar when you pressing another letter, you get the auto period?

I never had this problem before with 4.7.x and I am using the default keyrate settings.

The faster I type the worse the problem gets. But I swear I am not touching the spacebar, nor am I hitting it twice to get the auto period!

If it makes you feel any better, My Droid has a bug where the due to a rounding off error the camera doesn't focus for one week out of the month..

Yes, the droid has periods.. and smartphones have finally reached puberty.
