Default Storm touch screen unresponsive as well as physical buttons!

I received a call and when I went to hang up, physical buttons stopped working. I pulled the battery and I can highlight items on the homescreen/accelerometer works, but I can not open anything. I also can't receive phone calls using physical buttons.

Now when I pull batter the phone starts up, as soon as everything is fully loaded the screen fades, looks like it is off... nothing responsive.

HELP! phone was working fine until this point... had since end of november.

Right when I try to turn on it says turning handheld off before it verifies security software than shuts off after and can't turn back on unless i pull battery. When I put back in, it automatically boots up and turns off right after it turns on.

You're sure the battery is charged?

Plug it in first of all.

Always try to remove, reinsert the SIM and SD cards too. Not just the battery. Try it in every configuration. SD card in, out...

Can you get it to sync to your desktop? Reinstall the OS?

That's about as technical as I can get with a phone that won't even power up... Call VZw!

Good Luck!

Its obviously hardware failure and theres not much we can do. Call up Verizon and have them send you a replacement. That seems the only thing you can do.

It "verifies security software" before it turns off? I only see that when I turn it on.

I'm not home so I can't try to sync to desktop. I will try when I get home. To answer your question, the phone powers on and right before the 'verifying security software' comes up it says shutting down handheld, then verifies sec. and turns off.

it's on now... verizonwireless screen... led blinking... just completely unresponsive.

thanks for response.

Did you install leaked OS? If not, as I mentioned, contact VZ. Or you can try and wipe the phone and install whatever firmware you had on there.

That could be the culprit.. .90. Downgrade back to .75 and see if you have that problem still. If you do, its the phone. If you dont, its .90

Its all trial and error.

Unhappy Need Help With Storm Turning Off!

I have an unlocked BB Storm 9530. I was on .148 when the problem occurred.
I was talking on the phone outside, and when I finished the conversation, I wiped the sweat off the screen and went inside. When I checked my phone later on (about 5-10 minutes later) it was asleep. It wouldn't turn on. Screen and physical keys completely unresponsive.
I pulled the battery to hard start it and it started up just fine. When it got to the home screen, a window popped up saying "Handheld Powering Off...Press any key to abort". I pressed the screen (and every other key since) and nothing would abort the shut down.
I have already wiped the phone with JL_Cmdr and reinstalled .148 on to it. After the install was complete, the phone was good. It was back to the original VZw home screen. I played with it (went through all the welcome screens, set the clock/date, time zone, alarm, etc) for a little bit, then figured it was okay to slide in my SIM card.
I DID NOT pull the battery, I just slide the SIM in. Screen stayed up, wouldn't connect. Went to Manage Connections and Restored Connections. Didn't work. Finally, I pressed the End Call button to restart it.
Now, I'm back to square 1. It will not power up unless I battery pull and then it will not stay on.
I have researched and am going to try downgrading to .75. Because if I have it connected via USB while it's rebooting, the DM and Redirector will catch it and sync with it. I just can't turn it back on.
FYI: I purchased the phone off of eBay, with a SquareTrade warranty. Have already filed a claim with them for repair/replace. Just really want to do all I can before throwing in the towel.
Plus, once you've played with a BB, it's hard to go back to my Nokia N95 8GB. LOL!
Any help is greatly appreciated.

first congrats on resurrecting the thread.
it almost sounds like the power button is caught or shorted. maybe try putting the battery in while holding the power button, just curious what the results are

I thought of that. Did a battery pull and used a needle to play with the end call button. It still works like normal. Still did the same thing.
I still am downgrading to .75 now (Loading Apps now).
The only time I get it to stay on is after the first wipe and install and if I start it up without the SIM installed. But then I have to restart when I slided the SIM in to get it to register the network (and yes, I have tried to connect to the network via Manage Connections).
And I forgot to mention in the first post, I did have the phone in a tupperware or rice overnight to dry out the moisture. I thought that was the main problem, but it really wasnt that wet.

Alright....just finished downgrading back to .75 from .148

DM says - The loading operation was successful

BB physical buttons still unresponsive. Had the BB attached via USB still. Solid green LED. Battery pull to restart phone....

Same stuff!
Black screen with little clock, then white screen with blue loading bar across the bottom. Then the VZw default red swoosh screen, *POP UP* Turning Handheld Off...Press any key to abort, then Verifying Security, Security Passed....fade to VZw brand screen, fade to black!
Getting upset. Don't know what else to do! Except chuck it against the concrete black wall!
