True... An even better anology would be "It's not locked, it's sitting in the garage going nowhere, because no one is there to drive it"

Yeah I think so...

In my honest humble opinion we will not see any GPU use in the future because I think that Storm2 will replace completely this phone that will remain a "bad experience" for the company. They don't want to loose time and resource on it. This kind of market is too fast and only Apple seems to be interested on the software side of these gadjects. RIM and others companies seems to be interested only on the hardware side of the market.

Sorry to say, but the Storm has been a smash hit as far as sales go, so RIM will consider it a huge success.

Well I just bought a Storm last week. . . this post makes me very sad. I bought it because I was expecting the iPhone 'killer' everyone claimed the Storm would be, however with lack of GPU support I now feel like I wasted nearly $500 on a phone that picks up my email. I wanted a phone that was comparable to the iPhone and now I wish I had just gotten an iPhone.

Maybe if they allowed clearance someone could port Android onto this phone or something.

I want to play Cooking Mama! That game on iPhone is a lot more fun than most people are willing to admit!

@ OP

I posted this before but I don't keep track of my posts so I have no idea what happened to it. Thanks for reposting this, I've google it and no results. I think that if they wanted to gpu to work with the java platform they would have to build it from the ground up and at the same time would probably create more bugs, including their beloved security, which is a no deal for RIM. This is me attempting to explain things based on things I have read here on cb. Take what I said with a grain of salt cause I'm more than likely wrong.
