| | Crackberry addicts are funny!
I am really enjoying reading S2 threads. They read just like Storm 1 when it came out and there are hardcore BB users really playing theses issues down! Wait for the new update, they say! Oh, it is user error! Oh we got open GL soon, did you not hear? you better stick with S2, RIM got lots of plans for us!
Dang, I wish RIM would just put out an OS that worked all they way for S1! How many of you are still waiting for that to happen? Do you think S2 owners will get it first because they seem to have lots of issues hardware and software wise reading the posts. Some people are working on 3rd or 4th S2 and still loving it! Bring back memories?

Very true. I have 32 (I just counted) Storm 1 OS' from .75 up in My Documents.
"But if we just wait a little while longer... everything will be the way it should be. The Gold Code is just around the corner."
Actually I was on board until 5.0. The 4.7 versions actually improved with each new instance. With the auto dim that won't shut off and the browser that's worse than 4.7, I'm just about out.

I think I might be too. I thought that once we hit .230 things were going to get better and I even thought S2 might have been different but it seems to be very similar with just more app memory and wifi. Very similar posts only now you can add the wifi issues to the mix. And it can't all be user errors as some are very knowledgeable BB users.

Yeah, the dimming issue has made my phone really hard to use. I'm hanging on to see what comes out over the holidays. I'm familiar with BBs, love the email, etc. but not being able to see the screen very well half the time is getting to be a deal breaker. .328 has brought many improvements, but it brought the dimming issue as well. I've never had any hardware problems with my Storm, and I got a good one from the get-go. Coming from an enV, it was new and fun and being able to get my emails really made my life easier. As for the browser; meh, I have mobile broadband and use that most of the time for serious browsing. I'm sorry to hear of the S2 problems, but it seems like there are problems with all of them; you just pick the one that has problems that you can live with.

When I first saw the term "gold code" I was worried it was the referring to the alchemic prime, and that we would have to impose extreme sanction on the one who revealed it publicly but I quickly realized the term was referring to a bb OS. What a relief!

The OP brings up a good point. One of the frustrations with BBs is that you are always waiting for a fix that wil allow you device to perform as it was advertised. After about a year of updates, and youvstill haven't gotten there, you buy a new BB thinking that it will have the fixes you are looking for. Wrong! It becomes an ongoing battle for decent performance. I got tired from going to OS to OS, BB to BB. I was never truly happy.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | Right about now I think my BB would be worth more if I could turn it into gold.

Hey, don't get me wrong! BB are still good at what they are supposed to do: push mail. But, I think that they are losing ground fast. Imagine Google OS a year from now. Who is going to compete with them? They are going to be the Microsoft of the mobile world, no doubt in my mind about that.
Look at what Apple does: when they update an OS they usually fix the issues and not break other things. Why can't RIM do that? Why write a complete new OS, if one wants to call it that, and introduce new issues? Fix what's wrong and then update working new features! They have seemed to have done the same mistakes on S2 but, oh wait, next update will fix that! Come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, push email was never really "instant" on any of my previous BlackBerries with VZW or Alltel. Sometimes it would come in pretty quick, other times there was a 15 to 20 minute delay. So, their version of "push" email isn't really in real time either, as it has to synchronize with an external imap account as well before being pushed to the device.
Other than that, set up IMAP with 10 or 15 minute check intervals on your most used account. That works great for me, as I don't need the email the exact second it hits my inbox. It really does not drain the battery as you'd expect. Android is very good at power management.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | I completely agree with you!!! ' I got tired from going to OS to OS, BB to BB. I was never truly happy.' Now I'm thinking to give up BB Storm and switch to either Iphone or moto droid or HTC hero...
