Do you mind spending the $150 and then possibly spending another $200?

Will this lock you into a contract?

If you're not going to be locked into a contract, I'd get it (assuming it's working fine).

Unless VZW gives me an excellent deal, I'm not getting a new 'Berry until they make the switch to LTE in 2010 or 2011 (though 2011 may be stretching it a bit).

if you have the opportunity to try or at least play around with a storm before purchasing, even if you go to a carrier and play with it, i would before you get into anything...its kinda a love/hate thing if you read around the forums youll see that...me personally, the storm is a good phone and i adjusted well to the screen and typing and now have no trouble...definitely try and mess with one before you buy thats my best advice

Being that the Storm 2 is not out its kind of difficult to recommend waiting around for it. I've had mine since the beginning and love it. Like gnh5002 said, I believe you should try one out before purchasing it.

I'd go for the new Storm 1 right now, but I've always believed in that proverb that a bird is hand is better than 2 in the bush. No one knows with any certainty at all, but my personal guess is that you'll be waiting 5 or 6 months before you see a Storm 2.

I assume RIM is putting out storm 2 instead of tinkering w/current model b/c it's significantly better.

I believe that the LTE technology is being built in with the Storm 2. Can anyone clarify this??
