Default SERIOUS BATTERY PROBLEMS, please help....

My storm just will not keep a charge. It happened when I updated to .148
I wiped it with JL commander and everything. I take it off the charger (full charge) and within 4 hours its almost dead. That is with minimal usage, gps off... not browsing the internet or anything. Just a couple calls and texts.

I figured it had to be the battery, I bought a new battery and it still dies in about 4 hours. I downgraded to .141 to see if maybe it was just the firmware killing my battery. And no luck....

I just charged my new battery 100%, unplugged it t 5pm and by 9pm it was at 25% and I made 2 calls. That's it. No data, no gps. I hardly even have anything installed on the phone.

Somebody please help me? I cant do anything... Im constantly coming home just to charge my phone...

Angry

I am having the same exact issue. It's very irritating. As soon as I updated to the newest "official" update, my battery will also die in about 4 hours (maybe even less). I even missed a very important meeting because my phone wasn't on to remind me of it!!!

Anyways, I went into the Verizon store to have them take a look at it. The tech also thought it was the battery so she immediately went back and brought out a new battery for me at no charge. She told me that new batteries only came half charged so that it might die soon. That was ok since I didn't have anything else that was important that evening. Then next day after a full charge, same thing happened... 4 hours later completely dead - not just red blinking battery icon, a paper-weight dead. I'm not running anything different as far as software goes as I did before the official update. What else can it be?

It's hard for me to believe that it's not the new OS causing this issue. I am becoming less and less of a fan of the Storm.

I have used themes before. But right now, I am on the default theme, with all other themes completely deleted.

My only added apps are:
AIM,
Google maps,
Pattern lock,
Bolt,
Trapster
And BB app world....

None of which I even use, because If I use an app, my phone dies even quicker. (as if 4 hours isn't quick enough)

I am running at 54mb free memory too.

I don't get it, I actually have 2 bran new batteries here, and one old one... all of which last about 4 hours at minimal usage.

sorry to hear man

maybe a hardware fault or something

is it possible to exchange or return still?

if you want you could try a few other os versions to see if it is OS related, leave it with no apps downloaded and see if it still drains like a madman

Im not sure, I got my storm on Christmas. I have already got it replaced once because of dust under the screen. I kind of wish I didn't, id rather have loads of dust than a battery that wont last.

Is there anything I can try before we rule it a hardware prob?

EDIT:
Well I went from .113 to .148 and thats when the battery started dying. So I think im gonna try .113 and see what happens....
Ill post back

i stopped using hybrids for about a week and used the full .148 install. battery life was awful and only daily usage. left it on for about a week and same story every day, full charge to start the day and almost empty by nightfall. yes i have a bunch of apps installed but no theme. used only stock zen theme. and i always close out of apps properly. anyway got tired of constant power loss and now use one of the .151 hybrids, shrunk down. been on it for about 3 days now and have only had to charge my phone tonight when i got home. phone still had about 35% left but still thats way better than where i was a week ago. phone setup is all the same except for the OS. i dont know a whole lot about this stuff as most i read here do but i know the difference between going almost 3 days without charging to charging every 12 hours it seemed. so im good now i guess.phones fine.

Id give that a try, but to be honest.... I have no idea how to install a hybrid, and how it works.

Sounds like a hardware problem. My battery goes faster on .148 than any other OS but not that fast. Does your phone get really hot when charging or while in use?
