Well, the man has been busy, cranking out test after test but finally we have receive the BEST hybrid to date and it's from OneOfaKindDPC

ABOUT THIS HYBRID from OneOfaKindDPC:
This hybrid is a hybrid of hybrids. It consists of 151 files, Lyricidal's 5.0 files, files from v4 of my hybrid, plus some other tweaks I have added all over .148 to bring the whole things together. This hybrid, like all my others, is slimmed down. In other words several none essential programs have been removed to allow for the most possible free memory without out degrading the functionality of the storm. Please read the list of things removed before installing this hybrid as you have the ability to add the things I removed back into the OS at the sacrifice of whatever memory the programs added use up.

All Language files that are anything other than English (sorry its all I know)

Recently myself and others have found a problem with video playback. When the video is playing the audio buttons are locked and you cannot adjust the volume! The only way the volume can be adjusted is by pausing the video or by stopping the video.

This has been a nagging problem in The One's test OSs and now it has appeared in crackman's version 7 hybrid!

But with OneOfaKindDPC latest hybrid it has been fixed!

I've been running it all evening and it's crazy fast.

Here is all the info needed:


Here's the basics of it.
Download Shrink An OS by Lyricidal BlackBerry Apps/Hybrids by lyricidal

-Locate your 148 directory where you should have the hybrid installed (X:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.148_P4.0.0.181
-Place the 'Removed Files' folder into the 'Java" folder
-Run Shrink An OS
-Browse for the 148 folder
-Check the items you want put back in
-Click 'Put It Back!'
-Install the OS

I dont use the media player since I have an ipod touch but this hybrid seems great so far!

i had a ipod touch for about a year and half finally sold it since i started using my phone for a media player. got tired of carry two devices everywhere.

I must be doing something wrong but every time I try OneOfaKind's hybrids it just messes up my phone. The last hybrid I tried (v5) I couldn't use the Blackberry button at homescreen to get into my applications and the phone kept crashing. I tried another one of his hybrids about a month and a half or so ago and similar problems. I'm definitely not an expert but have gotten pretty comfortable wiping, installing leaks, hybrids, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm following the instructions right...I don't know.

I definitely appreciate the work (I love trying different Hybrids here at Crackberry) but for some reason, I can never get his to work.

try version 7 i hear its good, i might try this later. ooak hybrids are the easies to install imo. just move your loader files into another folder. copy and paste his in and reload.

p.s. version 5 didn't work for me either

But the touch is so much more in the entertainment field. I often carry both simply because the games them selves are better on the touch.

Don't get me wrong I love my Storm and now with The One's gold code Hybrid my Storm is simple perfect!

But I love my touch bowling. LOL

Could you please provide a little more detailed instruction of how to install this hybrid. I'm pretty good with this stuff but my brain is just not working this morning. I just deleted the os from my pc and I'm running crackman's v7.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've run just about every hybrid from everywhere except for oneofakind's. thanks in advance

Ok here is the method I use. Now please do this at your own risk. And remember one method might work for me and fail for another but lets proceed:

1) Install the latest OS official or leak in this case it's OS 148.

2) Download and unpack MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

3) Via your PC go to: Drive C \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Research In Motion \ Shared \ Loader Files \ 9530-v4.7.0.148_P4.0.0.181

4) Double click to open this folder: 9530-v4.7.0.148_P4.0.0.181
And select all it's contents and drag to the trash and empty the trash can.

5) Open The One's Hybrid folder and copy and paste ALL it's contents into the 9530-v4.7.0.148_P4.0.0.181 folder on your C drive. Do not copy over the folder that is named "removed items".

6) Then do your back ups: regular and 3rd party.

7) Wipe the phone.

8) Use the Apploader to install the New OS

9) And then use the DM for your third party apps and to restore your back up.

And thats it. Enjoy

Fantastic, I knew you wouldn't leave me hanging. I'm heading into a meeting and will be loading as soon as I get out. Thanks alot and I'll get back with a review after a little while.
It appears from what I've read that the camera is the only glitch. I could give a you know what about the square in the middle but are you sure it takes pics the same as before with the same quality? I use the camera all the time so I just want to check. thanks again!
