I've installed .83 and things are working as many have reported - i.e., much more responsive accelerometer, screen dragging, etc. Bluetooth stereo headsets work for music but not for videos. Net net, at this stage, I'd say it's a material improvement over .75.

One issue I haven't seen is whether anybody else is having trouble hiding the album artwork from Pictures folders. This was possible in .75, but using the same approach doesn't seem to be working in .83. Any help would be appreciated.

ISSUE RESOLVED:
I had excluded album art in my original setup. After upgrading to .83, I had to un-exclude and then re-exclude. The artwork is hidden from Photos under Media now - and still appears when playing songs.

Talking Official .83 release from VZW!!!

Hi, This is my first post and if anyone else has posted the same thing, well then I'm sorry for repeating it.
I downloaded all of the files/applications that I needed to upgrade to leaked .83 release (unofficial). When I downloaded the DM from VZW site, after installation of the application, it checked my Storm and notified me that there is an update to bunch of my core and 3rd party apps.
I selected the update option, it automatically backed up everything, removed couple of help files that were 9500 related and restarted my Storm

After it was rebooted, I had all of my files, apps, 3rd party apps, bookmarks, pictures that I've taken..... plus I noticed that the icons were bigger, it seemed faster, and there was a shortcut of the sound profiler at the top left corner.

The browser seems to be faster too....
BB9530
smartphone (3G,CDMA)
v.4.7.0.83 (platform 4.0.0.105)

just though you may want to know.... anyone else?

Talking

I did download the leaked version but I didn't end up using the leaked version because VZW already upgraded me to .83. So I didn't have to wipe my data and start from scratch.
  • I installed the latest DM from verizon, after install,
  • it was checking my storm for update,
  • then it said there are bunch of updates available,
  • I agreed to update them,
  • It backed up my data (including my 3rd party apps)
  • It finished the update process
  • Then, it restored everything AND I didn't loose anything at all!!!!!
  • and I didn't have to use the Leaked version that I downloaded

so far it's been 10 hours and I haven't had any problems!

Verizon has not released .83 nor are they going to. .85 just leaked. Not sure what you did but VZW did not do it.
