Default REVIEW: SocialScope Beta

I thought this day would never come... I finally have SocialScope on my Berry!

Right off the bat let me assure you it is well worth the wait!!! This is an epic application for the social networker (like yours truly). Manage multiple twitter accounts (with the next update) and also your facebook account from one app... homerun! Much better facebook integration than Tweetdeck too where you can only see news feed, with SS you can post comments, view friends pics, etc. But I'm getting ahead of myself! Here is the step by step walkthrough of the SS app, hope you enjoy...

Home Screen - this is the screen when you first launch the application. Right away you will notice the super slick layout complete with tabbed browsing (one of the best features of the app) making it very easy to navigate. I'll get into the tabs one by one starting here. You will notice on the home screen tab, all your accounts are merged into one 'news feed' for quick viewing...

If you scroll down and click on one of the entries it brings up the actual tweet/status update and allows you to post a comment directly from that screen. I like this because you can still see what you're replying to while you're typing...

Example from Twitter:

Example from Facebook:

The next tab is the @ tab. This features tweets @yourusername. This helps to speed up seeing what tweets were directed at you so you can respond to those quickest. I use this feature a lot to make sure I don't miss Mike Lawson talking trash behind my back LOL (I keed, I keed)...

Next we have the direct message tab. This is just the private messages sent directly to or from you. Another highly used feature of any twitter client. This is a great way to exchange private information that you don't want shown on the main timeline.

NOTE: In some screen shots, notice the nice red dots notifying you of new messages. Very nice feature of SS.

One super cool feature of SS direct messaging is they are threaded similar to iPhone SMS or some IM programs. You can see that in this screen capture...

(continued in next post due to 10 IMG limitation of the site)

(Continued from post 1)

Next is a twitter tab. With secondary twitter accounts, there is a second twitter tab in red to help differentiate between the two accounts. I do not currently have that version (ahem... Ruk). This helps you only view your twitter timeline without facebook status updates cluttering it up...

And of course, one of the crowning jewels of this app is the facebook tab. By clicking this tab you see only your facebook status updates, etc. without having to sort through all the tweets...

As for menus, one thing I really like is that you can hit menu and select to see your facebook profile which launches the facebook mobile app (yay!)...

You can also go-to a twitter user and several other functions...

Twitter search is available too. Not something I use a ton but some people report this as a huge plus...

As for the main application settings menu, there are a lot of modifications. By looking at the screen captures, these are fairly self explanatory. Noteworthy is the ability to enable auto-spell check (which I quickly disabled for speed) and numerous other user preference settings. This enables you to set everything up the way you want it.

In summary this is a wonderful application. Like it or not, social networking has been and will continue to be a huge growth industry. Having a powerful tool on your Berry to help you manage your contacts and stay connected is becoming very important. Software developers are scrambling to get their piece of the pie. But for now, SocialScope is clearly the leader IMO. I have used them all so far and nothing comes close. It will be interesting to see if Tweeteev can give them a run for their money!

If you do not have SocialScope, sign up today!!! SocialScope is still in Beta testing at this time.

I'd hate to see development of this app stop like Skyfire. It sucks that such a potentially great app was deslated because of leaks.

Thanks for the concern Sadistic. This isn't the new version with the new UI, so I believe its ok. But again, thanks for your concern, as its greatly appreciated.
Good review Morganizer. Definitely better than other ones I've seen.

it's pretty much impossible to "leak" since the accounts links expire after one use. and not to worry about skyfire, it still works for those that need it to.

I am also testing this app and though I have a couple of issues with it, I generally like it. I was using the FB app and TweetGenius, and like how this app flows.

One major complaint, which the developers report they can not block, is the ads that are coming from FB. Every so often I get an ad for Farmville, or some other FB app that i do not use. It comes up like a status, or tweet, so no big deal, just annoying.

Notifications for Facebook also lack, I had been blocking FB emails on my BB, had to turn them back on to get notifications.

In all, for a first release, I am very happy and this was well worth the wait. Keep up the good work fellas.

the ads in FB might be their API thing, facebook is so screwy anyway I wouldn't put it past them

Yeah, the only issues I had with the app were items FB would not allow the developers access to. They did report they are working with FB to remove the ads.

I just got my invite... I have not yet been able to figure out where you can add the secondary twitter accounts. That was the biggest draw for me to the Social Scope project.

Any suggestions?

Question still waiting for beta ?

have been waiting on beta for 3+ months now... have they been releasing ANY new use accounts ??

Am wondering why its taking too long - inability to grow/scale their infrastructure to meet demands (e.g., with new features, growth of services like FB, Twitter etc).

Decided to try Trillium (IM integration) in the meantime - does a decent job of enabling FB chat.

With BB OS6 coming out soon, perhaps Socialscope is already too late ??
