Default MOTOROKR s9 Wireless Stereo Headphones review!

My name is Jordan and I have been a member of crackerry for a little over a year. I chose the MotoRokR S9-HD because of price and convenience of size.

Initial impressions were that the headset was small compare to some others which was a major plus and reason to buy. The design is nice and fairly simple. On the back of the unit you have the on/off button led light and charging plug which is covered by rubber, and of course has a nice big Motorola logo as well. The set feels somewhat uncomfortable at first, but once you adjust it a little bit it honestly fits very well although I can see it becoming uncomfortable after several hours of continuous use.

Over the weekend I used this headset a lot. My apartment was a mess so I put on my headset cranked up the tunes and went to work. I had my Blackberry 9550 sitting in my bedroom while I was working in the living room and kitchen. The connection was great all around the apartment I was pretty impressed with the clarity of the connection. With this headset I did have a small problem though after cleaning I took my dog for a walk and had my phone on my hip and my headset going and I kept on having a fading connection the music would totally cut out when there was a difference of 3 feet between them where I just had the headset in another room twenty feet away playing music without a problem. I suppose this is because the signals have an easy time going through walls and a hard time going through a body, but anyways I slid my holster towards my back and didn't have any other problems.

The MotoRokR S9-HD is a very good headset that puts out gread sound. The headset is very comfortable once properly adjusted and so far the battery life is fantastic lasting around 5-6 hours (not fully tested) This headset fortunately doesn't look weird while wearing it people haven't given me any odd looks at the grocery or anything like that.

Pros: Great sound, fairly comfortable fit, good clear music when in a different room of my apartment.

Cons: Some spotty sound when phone is on the hip, hard to carry with you.

Can purchase at Enter your location

I still need to post pictures which I will do by tomorrow.

I agree great headset, although my first set stopped working after 6-8 months due to working out and getting them sweaty - you need to watch that.

The reason they don't work as well outdoors is that there are no walls for the Bluetooth signal to bounce off of.

I purchased the Motorola S9-HD headset at the time I upgraded to my new 9700. So far, my thoughts are as follows:

The design of these is very appealing. Understated matte black, with some classy gloss and black-chrome accents. The material and fit/finish seem to be excellent.

The control buttons on each earpiece are very easy to distinguish with a light touch; memorizing the functions of those 6 buttons is your job. Thankfully, they're arranged logically; playback controls (skip forward, play/pause, skip backward) on the right ear, and volume/call controls (volume up, answer/end call, volume down) on the left.

Pairing the headphones was simplicity itself. I have not had to revisit the pairing process, and all functions between the BB and S9 work seamlessly.

Sound quality of music playback is as good as any wired earphones I've used, with the exception of the great big cinema headphones I use when watching movies on my laptop. I should note that I'm not an audiophile by any definition; those who are very picky about sound may or may not agree with me on this point.

The "HD" portion of the product name refers to what the manual calls "SRS WOW HD Audio Enhancement", and claims "... is an audio enhancement technology that provides better width and improved bass and definition control."

This feature allows the user to choose between 2 sound profiles: "1) Fuller sound with more clarity" or "2) Balanced audio with enhanced bass."

In switching between the 2 profiles (which is a one-touch affair) I noticed that there is a distinct difference between them, but I can't say that I prefer one over the other at this point.

Sound quality during phone calls is also excellent, and contrary to other reviews I've read, my set produces bin-aural sound during phone calls. When asked, callers have professed that my voice was just as clear and loud as when using the BB without the handsfree.

I find the S9-HD headset to be as comfortable as any other in-ear type that I've tried. That is to say, I've never tried any in-ear phones that didn't produce some discomfort after an hour or so, and have tried some, including one particular pair, that were so instantly painful that I threw them out the window minutes into their use.

The only improvement in ergonomics might be the angle of the phones in relation to the ear canal. These point slightly toward the rear of the head when worn, when the human ear canal in fact angles slightly ahead. The basic shape of the wrap-around design, and the tension afforded when worn is fine for me.

The set comes with 2 different sizes of 'earplugs' (though it may be that 3 sizes were intended... mine had one size installed, another identical pair and a smaller pair in the package.) As an interesting side note, after purchasing this set, and to slake my own curiosity, I searched Motorola's website to see if purchasing replacement earplugs was possible; if it is, I was unable to find it there.

One feature I thought would make a great addition (though I don't know if it's even technically possible) is the ability to see on your BB or other device the battery status of your headphones.

In any case, I'm perfectly happy with the Motorola S9-HD, and feel that they merit the not-inexpensive price tag.

I can't get the SRS Wow button to do anything. I press and press and nothing happens. Is there a setting on the Storm that I need to fix or should I return the headset?
