Default problems getting simulator to work

I found this thread here http://forums.crackberry.com/f115/st...-issue-160982/ and have tried following the advice in it. Particularly this part...

Quote:
1) Make sure you've downloaded the simulator from RIM. You can go to their website (Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at Blackberry.com), you'll have to fill out a form with some personal information, but the simulator is still free. You'll have to select which BB model you'll want to download from them as well.

2) After you've downloaded the simulator file from RIM, install it.

3) Make sure you've exported your theme from Theme Builder.

4) Then run the simulator from your start menu in windows.

5) When in the simulator program click on File and then load the Java Program. From there, select ALL the .cod files and then click open.

6) Restart the simulator. When it boots back up, select your theme from the options/themes.

Sometimes another restart is necessary for it to load the theme properly, but not in all cases.
But for me this hasn't worked. Regardless of whether I open up the simulator from start menu or from within theme builder, I seem to get only the simulator showing with the white page and the "reload software: 507" showing. When I try go to file/load java files and try to load the .cod I saved nothing happens.

The simulator I d/loaded was for 9500 model. I'm wondering if I have to use the 9530 instead?

If anyone else has some ideas I'd greatly appreciate some help please.

Using XP.

But I've found a workaround of sorts. But its a total pain in the ***. Dunno who suggested it anymore, I've seen too many names and read too many threads from searches now but if I open simulator manually from start menu....wait painfully for it to looooooad....then file/load java program and select my cod....

THEN

go into about/themes on the actual phone itself on simulator (as if I'm using the phone) then I can load the theme up.

But talk about long winded. Anyways...if there's a simpler method....for the love of god someone tell me please.

Slightly old thread, not necessarily dead though...

Anyway, I came across it by searching for a fix for the plazmic simulator bug... still no fix it looks like

Anyway, DoctorN, just go into options, security, general, bb button -> wipe.... it will wipe the device of all the personal data (old themes you loaded on).

This is such a pain... I wish it just worked right in plazmic... what a buggy piece of software!

I dont know what the problem your having with simulator...but this usually fixes all the errors I have encountered...

Go to your users folder in windows, Delete the folder named "net". It stores preferences and installed files lists there.. Its like a hard reset for the simulator..when you load simulator again you will get the first popup like you just installed it..

Ive gotton Error, 104, 517, and I think 507 and one other I cant remember, to go away by doing this.

I suggest downloading the JDE as opposed to just the simulator.

Then start up the JDWP, and under the Memory tab there's an option "Reset the file system on startup". Enable it, start up the simulator, and the disable it afterwards (otherwise it'll wipe it every time).
