Post Hidden Dock Explained!

Good day everyone!

Here is another tutorial explaining how hidden dock was created. There are five parts to the tutorial so be patient and watch through. Obviously this is not "professional" work so do not expect the top of Mount Everest. Thanks to ecruz0102 for updating me on .svg and showing some pointers. Thanks to Shao for posting the CDK_labs pdf document, its worth reading.

===============================================

A.) Explain opening of tags and closing them.
Example: <a name="location"> </a> html anchor tag
http://www.dcrin3.com/bb46/hidden_dock_tute/Part_A/Part_A.htm
Duration: 7:33

B.) Explain the engine behind the TodayPlus.svg code.
http://www.dcrin3.com/bb46/hidden_dock_tute/Part_B/Part_B.htm
Duration: 21:03

C.) Show a demo of the Today Plus SVG on plazmic theme builder.
(C-1.) Explain the limits on plazmic 4.6 - some background music.
http://www.dcrin3.com/bb46/hidden_dock_tute/PartC/PartC.htm
Duration: 1:53

D.) Create a set of three icons, demo them on simulator.
http://www.dcrin3.com/bb46/hidden_dock_tute/PartD/PartD.htm
Duration: 4:19

E.) Turn the icons into a hidden dock(using editor). Add the icons into a "g id" container tag.
F.) Show the links between the animating code and the container tag.
G.) Simulate the three icon set hidden dock.

Duration: 14:14

You are right. On my 8800 I noticed some animations running slugishly, so I dismissed any phone below the 8900 series except for 82xx.

Thanks for corfirming it.

Default Thanks

Great info and tutorials.

Thanks to everyone who posts this kind of stuff.

I have been using it to theme my 8130.

Most of it will work but I guess I can admit that it may run a little laggy.

Still, I'm stubborn and believe that if it's coded smart and small and I don't overtax the OS, the themes are worth it.

Thanks again.

Rebecca

Not yet. I have not seen any demand for jscroll or I just have not had time to theme any prototypes.

thank you all for the support.

Yeah, I can confirm that JScroll is very slow and both Jscroll and Hidden dock have backwards navigation. Hopefully this can be fixed in the next CDK.
