| | Help with OTA // JAD please!
I'm trying to use mediafire to host my jad files so i can download straight to my curve, but I cannot figure out how to get it to work. I've tried everything.
I created a new folder in mediafire and put all the jad and cod files in there and then sent a link to my phone, but nothing seems to do the trick. I always get an error on the bb browser.
please help! if i can get this to work, i can share my awesome themes with you cool kids! thanks!

Download this, unzip it, and take the .htaccess file inside and add it to the folder with your jad and cod file. Then try to download to your phone.
This tells your server how to manipulate the jad and cod files for download.
Good luck.

Try downloading it again. I changed it a little.
If this doesn't do it, I'm not sure what else to do, it works for me.

Mosting hosting sites have GUI pages to help you upload to your space.
I use filezilla, which is an FTP client for transfering files for just such things.
If you use an FTP client, you'll have to login with the name and password you created when you joined the hosting site.
Then you enter the address of your folder where you want to store your files.
Example:
host.mywebhost.com/~johndoe/bbthemes/bold9000themes/today_plus_theme/today_plus_theme.jad
johndoe/ would be your data space on the host server.
The rest are what ever folders you created.
You'll notice today_plus_theme is the folder with your theme, the .htaccess goes there too.
Then the last string is the actual jad file from our today_pls_theme folder.
Hope this helps

You may need to add the MIME files into your uploading area, the way to do this depends on what company you use to upload with, but I had to do this with my file manager.
You can google the MIME files, you need different ones for the .jad .cod and so on files.

I used a German site to host my jad files, but I'm thinking of transferring them to another site, especially since I barely speak/understand a wink of German |

hi there, here is my (hopefully) complete guide to getting your theme onto your bb, hope it helps
when you`ve finished making your theme, you then need to export it, by doing file>export
you then have 2 options, alx (desktop version for using bdm) or jad (for ota useage)
select the option you wish to do, then select/create the folder for the files to be placed in
if doing a desktop alx version, you`ll get one .cod file, and one .alx (application loader) file
if doing an ota jad version, you`l get several .cod files, and one .jad file (the more alterations you make, the more .cod files, and thus the larger your theme)
when your theme is exported, you then need to get it onto a device, you have your two options now, desktop or ota
to do a dektop load, you open bdm, and go into applications, then the app loader, you should get a tab in bottom right saying `browse` choose this, navigate to the folder you saved your alx theme into, then choose the .alx file that relates to that theme, this will put it in the apps list in bdm, ensure the theme is ticked, then proceed as if installing any normal app through bdm
to do an ota load, you`ll first of all need a webserver that you can upload your files to, load all the .cod and the .jad into the same directory on your website hosting server, then you need to make a .htaccess file, to tell your web server what you want it to do, when you`ve done this (iv put it below for ya) the browse to the folder of your website (or page if you created one) and select the .jad file (if making a webpage, write the link to the .jad file, its the ota loader file for all the cod files) which will then give you the download screen
to make the .htaccess file, firstly create a new wordpad document, and open in wordpad, edit the text to read as follows
AddType text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor .jad
AddType application/vnd.rim.cod .cod
then hit `save as` and put the filename as .htaccess
then in the bar below, where it says something like `save filetype as` select the dropdown, and select `all files`
then hit save
this .htaccess file then needs to be uploaded to the directory with your theme files in it
its also important to make sure its uploaded in binary mode, most ftp servers will allow you to choose the way you upload, so select binary
now you should be able to select the .jad file and it`ll all work, for posting links to your themes, you`ll need to post the link of the .jad file only
any issues just shout
