Default Blackberry Tutorials: Sliding Dock (video)

A sliding dock is a great thing to have on your Blackberry. It will give you the ability to have a lot of icons on your phone without taking up a lot of space. You can have as any icons as you would like on the scrolling dock. Therefore, in this video tutorial I will explain how to make one. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need.

Why do it?
As stated above, this is great if you like to display your wallpaper but want to have a lot of icons on your home screen. Please take a look at my DroidSlide theme to get an example of this.

Download Files
I have enclosed a few downloads that you can use. The first two include every file I used to create the Sliding Dock . The last link is to download the CODE only.

(Download files on the website)

Please Note
You have to download the Blackberry Theme Builder tools onto your computer.
This tutorial will be using Composer and Theme Builder.

Stack the icons, and flip the numbers (to:-420,0) <flip it.

Matt, thank you very much for sharing this information with us. It is greatly appreciated by those of us who feel like we have stagnated in our efforts to put forth a worthy professional looking theme.

Your tutorials are fantastic! Ty so much for sharing them!

When I did this, for both the sliding dock and the hidden dock, I changed the screen size for the 8530, and other than that did not touch the svg code at all, however, the dock does not slide, and in the hidden dock, the dock won't hide. Have I missed a step somewhere?

Glad you find them useful.

bc_chick - it could be a lot of things which is causing it not to work...If your not getting errors while importing the SVG - it would be anything... I would need to look at the svg file.

And you would need to touch the code itself because it was set to work with 80x80 icons where the 85xx is 52x52.

ok ty. I didn't get any errors importing the SVG code... I've just played with it a little and am just loading it onto my phone now. I neglected to change the navigation so I've changed that, and if it still doesn't work, I will try changing the icon size. If I still can't get it to work, I'll probably just start over with the tutorial and see if I can figure it out.
