The only real way to protest this is with your wallet, that's really the only thing they'll listen to. Cancel your service/demand some sort of compensation, that's what I'll be doing.

Ok, half the people that work at att stores don't know what the heck is going on half the time, I went there for help when my pearl bricked from the 4.5 update they were like "a what update?" so they gave me the tech lines number and told me to call, where after being transfered twice because I went from tech to warranty, to upper end/smart phone tech/warranty line, and finally they knew what was going on, they said it was covered under warranty and sent me a new one
P.s. I probably could have gotten 4.3 back on to the old one, but hey if I'm gettin a free phone out of it who's to complain haha now I'm happily running os 4.5 on my pearl... And does anyone remember when they said that anyone with older phones would have to upgrade because the old network wouldn't work? I know some people with some ancient phones, and they are still working, of course these aren't massive data handling phones, but anyone who needs to have fast data transfer should upgrade anyway, I wish I could, but my 7.30 an hour job doesn't really give me much to work with when I have bills to pay by the way I'm 17 so don't ask why I'm making minimum wage

I don't understand why everyone is panicking like we're going to wake up tomorrow and all EDGE devices won't be working anymore. All the article says is that they are moving EDGE service to a weaker frequency. They aren't just going to shut it off totally and say "If you don't like it, buy a 3G phone." It's simply a step along the way to phasing out the older technology. People who live where coverage is good probably won't even be able to notice a difference, and people who live where coverage is bad should probably be on another network, lol.

Rumor's not true. The cost alone of shifting the EDGE equipment to 1900 is insane expensive. AT&T isn't dumb.

I also asked them about the 8900 and they havnt even heard of the phone. None of them had.
In-store workers never have any idea what's going on. Just by reading these forums you know much more than they do.
