Default picture messaging on my 8900

hey guys, i'm new to the whole blackberry thing. this is my first blackberry. i'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but i really need help.

i bought the phone brand new. i've had it for about a few days now. today, when i tried to picture message, it would not work. i went to "compose mms", then it says.." No MMS Service Record, message cannot be sent. You will only be able to Save Draft." does anyone know what the problem is? please help!

you can try and re-send service books and then do a battery pull. Is your BIS activated?

There is no service book on your blackberry which allow you to send/recieve mms. You'll only get the servicebook with an activated bb-service for your sim. If you've already booked the service ask your provider to resend the service-books or activate a bb data plan. Again: you can't use the mms function or send/recieve emails without a bb service.

i can't use the mms functions if i don't have the blackberry internet/email plan? that might be the problem? i only have minutes and unlimited texting. i thought i would be able to send mms, since unlimited texting includes picture messages and what not.

Sry. You MUST have a bb email plan. No chance to get mms working without it.

no dear, you're gonna have to go to your mobile service provider and apply for a plan. depends on how much you use your internet, you should base your decision on what plan you'd get. i understand in the united states and canada, there's such a thing as unlimited data downloads/uploads for some plans. we don't have that here in the philippines, however. bummer!

you DO NOT have to have a data plan to send and receive pictures with T-Mobile's 8900. I didn't have a data plan for a while.. and still was able to do these things.

I know that this may not help since I am on AT&T, but.....

All I have to have is the pay-per-use data plan and I can send and receive all of the MMS that I want. Unless I receive one that I have to actually download, AT&T doesn't charge me. (other than my unl. txt plan).

Hmm..thats really weird! I had a BB plan on tmobile and i was able to send and receive text msgs without a problem. I cancelled my data plan and my phone had a defected radio due to which it kept dropping calls and i got it replaced. I didn't have a data plan when this happend and my mms still works with this phone! Try calling AT&T customer service, they might help you out cuz it would be really stupid if this is the case!

Honestly blackberry is a waste of money to buy without data, just like any pda. Want a phone you get a phone, want features great apps and more you get a pda with net. Also makes it 1000x more fun!

But when I added data plans to both BBs I had to call customer support cuz I couldn't send or reciecve mms.. All the had to do was check something.. U do not need a data plan with the BBs but now data is required for anyone who bought there phone after june 6th I think
