So I found out that I have this problem as well.. It's a small hairline crack, not SUPER noticeable.. I have a few more days on my buyer's remorse period, but I'm worried that if I trade my phone in, I might get one with more problems. Right now, the only problems (if you want to call them that) I have with my device is the loose keyboard and this cracked button. Anybody else have any insight?

Mine showed up shortly after the 14 days was up. I'm a little worried for the same reason as you (azn)...

I haven't mentioned anything to T-Mobile and haven't decided what to do yet.

Yeah. Kinda bummed about the crack.. But it doesn't really affect anything, and the wobbly keyboard isn't that bad. Better a wobbly keyboard than a loose trackball housing and screenwave.

I'm just gonna keep the one I have now. I'm probably gonna swap out my SIM though to see if my signal gets any better.

You guys can buy a new KB on CNN.CN and replace it for $10 using my tutorial....

It would kinda void the warranty

This happened to me with my last 8900, too, without dropping it. There definitely is a defect with the keys, alongside quite a few keyboards being wobbly. I happened to have had the same problem with device number 2, as with 1 (wobbly keyboard), so I got it replaced based on that.

does anyone know what would happen if you just left it?

is this just cosmetic? or part of form and structure?

will the trackball fall out once the cracks progress over time?

My Blackbery has the same problem. Just cracked 1 week from use. Going to get a replacement then sell it right away. I'm looking towards a bold since this is crap and RIM hasn't done anything as of yet.

I have the same stupid problem with my 8900 as well. I'm with Rogers and just got the cell about 3 months ago. Anyone have any luck resolving this issue? It's so frustrating thinking i'm stuck with this for 3 years now.

No reason you should have to keep a deterioating product after only 3 months
with it. If you bought the phone new then it is under a one-year warranty. It
covers hardware. Call up Rogers and they'll arrange for another phone to be
sent out to you. That is if you bought it new.
