The phone has been available in Europe longer. I'm suspecting the problem will surface here sooner or later...

Mine is broken here in canada too. Noticed last week and am going to try and see if I can bring it back to rogers.
Not too comfortable with changing it myself so I hope they can exchange it.

Mine is T-Mobile Germany 8900. So far so good but who knows? Mine was made in Mexico and I think the ones that are sold here as well so really do not know if German versus USA should really make a difference.

It happened to me too! I haven't dropped it and have had it for ALMOST 3 weeks. About 3 days ago I noticed a hairline crack underneath the trackball and when I push on the menu and arrow keys it gets bigger (obviously). I haven't decided what I want to do about this yet....

I have the same problem on T-Mobile in the UK. Ha the unit for maybe two months and it hasnt been dropped at all.

T-Mobile won't change the unit, so I'm stuck with finding a replacement keyboard over here somewhere

I suspect RIM will shortly make a modification to the plastic mold to alleviate this problem. I wouldn't run out and buy a new keypad so quick. Wait until a new design is released.

Do you have large fingers? I agree there's probably a design weakness here, but you are having some seriously bad luck.

Where is your phone manufactured? Decal under battery.

my 3(r) key is also broken. it doesn't register half the time. I have to really mash it in there to get it to register.

luckly i realized within 14 days and TMo is sending me a new one!

Did that key work previously? You may have gotten some debris (i.e. sand) stuck behind the button. A can of compressed air is your friend.
