Implementing FLAC support in BB OS?
I haven't done any coding since BASIC (in grade school) but I "need" to be able to play FLAC (free lossless audio codec) files on my 8900.
I'm not a "music pirate"; the recordings I want to play are ones that I personally created. My plan is to use my 8900 as a tool for hand-delivering audio to the musicians I've recorded (via mass-storage mode) and for playing said recordings back for them. MP3 and the "consumer" formats currently supported by 4.6.1.xxx are is completely unacceptable for this purpose. I can (and do) use WAV but prefer FLAC (for the same reason that the consumer prefers MP3 - smaller file sizes).
My operation is funded entirely out of my own pockets (which are not, by any stretch of the imagination, deep). Because many of the musicians I record are "more broke than I am", I do much of my work gratis. The majority of my distribution is non-commercial or donations-based. What I'm trying to say is that I really can't pay someone to help me with this.
But I'd like to see it happen - even if I have to learn how to do it for myself. I want a FLACberry(tm). How do I make that happen?
