Default Icon Creation/Editing

I'm new to the theme making process and using Plazmic Composer and Theme Builder. I'm only doing this for fun and to hopefully put up some free themes on CB one day that people will actually like. I have no interest in profiting on theme building. I have made a few basic themes that I have loaded onto my phone that seem to work but want to be able to take them to the next level.

I am basically wondering if there is any type of web tutorial out there or some sort of learning tool that will show me how to take regular images (.jpg, .gif, etc..) and convert them to sizes, shapes, etc..that will work with the storm. I am also looking to lear to actually create icons with Composer or Photshop or Adobe Composer.

I know that theme building is kind of a secretive thing in as much as people don't like to share what they know. I completely understand and respect that and if there is anyone out there that could point me in the right direction or provide some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

****EDIT***
I realized I put this in the wrong thread. Can a mod move it over to the theme developers forum? Thanks and sorry for the mistake.
