Default HTML to Blackberry data pull?

My apologies if this is a trivial post. I have some Java programming experience, but I am an amateur programmer. I am still learning.

Can someone tell me how one call "pull" data from an website for an app?

In standard Java, this is no problem as an HTML file can be utilized like any other data file after accounting for formatting.

How does one do this Blackberry app development? I'm looking to take "real-time" data from a website, manipulate it with my program.

Thanks in advance.
