Default BlackBerry App World Sales

Hey Guys,

I'm mostly looking for a response from developers on this one. A friend of mine is nearing completion of his first application, and we were wondering how well App World is doing in terms of sales (for independent developers).

We were discussing if it was worth the $200 fee to release his app on the BlackBerry platform, or if he is better off releasing through MobiHand (or both, or another retailing platform).

Do any developers on this forum have experience with selling apps on App World? If so, how are your sales looking?

Thanks

it doesnt hurt to list your app on Mobihand and on AppWorld. There are alot of traffic on both sites.

It all depends on the app. it people like it they will buy. Of course you have to set the price to be affordable.

If he is risk-averse, he can try releasing only on MobiHand, since that does not cost a pile of money. Mobihand sales will give tell you whether the app will sell respectably. If it does, he can then use that sale revenue to pay for the App World listing. My limited experience is that App World sales of my apps are about equal or better than MobiHand, but not spectacularly (e.g., order of magnitude) better. Still, with RIM pushing App World hard I expect sales in that market to improve over time.
