Default Newest OS 4.6.1.284 For 8230 (Multi Language)

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl Flip (TM) 8230 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.422 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.1.422
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.1.284
Software Platform: 3.3.0.92
File name: 8230mAMEA_PBr4.6.1_rel422_PL3.3.0.92_A4.6.1.284_Al ltel.exe
File size: 90.57MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

For install instruction to load any carrier 8230 OS on your BB:

1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

ALTERNATIVE:
THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH 4.6.1.284
If you are having issues updating to this version, I found an alternate method of loading OS on the Flip:

Updating from 4.6.1.182 to 4.6.1.236

The 8220 is the GSM providers (T-Mobile, AT&T)

The 8230 is CDMA providers (Cellular South, Alltel, Verizon)

Do I understand correctly from the discussion about that I should not use this upgrade for my 8220 but instead use the .267 upgrade?

The above instructions are not working for my VZW 8230. I remembered to delete the vendor.xml file, so that's not the problem. When I attach the Pearl to my computer and open Desktop Manager, nothing happens. When I click on Application Loader, nothing happens.

The whole reason I'm doing this is because the time on the inside display isn't updating properly. Wonder if this problem is actually a larger issue?

I have the same issue, not with the clock but the app loader. I think it has something to do with the platform being different. It is version .70 instead of .78 that the VZW one comes with.

I've had the same problem with my new VZW 8230. I even tried using CrackMem to wipe the device and it just comes up and say that Desktop Manager doesn't have any software installed for this device. Any ideas?
