Tethering Bold 9000 with Mac over bluetooth (4.6.0.247)
- Well, i suppose you've double checked all the settings... sometimes it helps not to fill any user or password fill for 3G connection. One easy way to isolate mac related ppp issues to overal ppp problems is to try to tether under windows : if it works, you can focus on why it's not under mac os x. I have the same setup here (the carrier is different, though), and neither Csete's ppp binary nor mine (see this thread's history) have failed in any way if the steps have been followed.
Maybe a dump of ppp errors could help, have you put it in verbose mode ( somewhere in the ppp options in system preferences) ?08-02-09 10:22 AMLike 0 - Just to confirm, that after 10.5.8 install, you have to reinstall this fix. Tested and working for me.08-06-09 07:07 AMLike 0

- Hi all,
I have been trying for a very long time, with no success, to tether my blackberry bold to my macbook pro via bluetooth.
I am on the UK Orange network (on an unlimited data plan) and use OS X 10.5.8.
I have tried Generic, Blackberry 8800, and "Blackberry 3G CIDI" modem drivers, with a combination of different numbers, usernames and passwords.
I've tried *99# and orangeinternet as the phone number. In generic, where it is possible to enter the APN, I have entered orangeinternet.
Almost every time I get the message "Could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server. Please verify your settings and try again". Each time the phone and the mac are able to talk to each other, but they give up at the end.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks,
vinegartom09-26-09 05:03 AMLike 0 - Well, I've tried everything in this thread! Still no joy. I get a message that tells me my bold is an older model that doesn't have a modem - but it works in Bootcamp with Windows 7... Confirms what I've often thought - MACs are odd! This is the first one I've owned; 13" MacBook Pro/Snowleopard. I think it'll probably be the last...
Terence09-26-09 01:52 PMLike 0 - I can confirm this works on the latest update for Snow Leopard. My pppd file remained the same from when I first installed it, along with the modem script. Tethering on the go for free, my favorite price.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com10-09-09 06:16 PMLike 0 - Hey, CBRfanatic, any ideas what I might be doing wrong trying to tether my bold to my macbook pro with Orange UK?
If you're on the same setup, would you mind posting your settings? Or in a pm?
Thanks,
vinegartom10-10-09 12:22 PMLike 0 - for orange uk, the following apply
APN: orangeinternet
User: web
Pass: web
are you using 10.5 or 10.6 ?10-11-09 12:48 PMLike 0 - Hi darkone,
I have tried this combination, but it doesn't seem to work.
I'm on 10.5.8.
What modem settings should I be using? "Generic"?
Thanks.10-12-09 01:21 AMLike 0 - Anyone have a suggestion? I'm using csete's modified /usr/sbin/pppd.
