I was a long time WinMo user until just over a month ago. I had a Cingular 8100 (no camera model) then a Treo 750. Before that, I had an HP Jornada handheld with Windows CE on it. Windows Mobile is an extraordinary platform. As is BBOS. The thing I miss the most is the threaded SMS. If you've had a Palm device, you know what I'm talking about. If not, you don't. No question about it. In some ways, the semi threaded SMS box of the BB is worse than no threading at all. It only leads to confusion and frustration. Its good in the short term, but god forbid you should send somebody 2 messages in a row. BB Messenger is great, but not all of my friends have Blackberrys. A lot of them just aren't interested, a few of them are iPhone fanatics. To each his own.
Dieter, the Bold is a great device, and I wish you all the luck in the world with it. My recommendations for you would be, get a today theme (if you used it on the WinMo phone) and use the holster that came with the Bold. The today theme is very much like the today screen of the WinMo device. The holster honestly and truly helps to extend the battery life. Well, if you can put it down long enough to keep it in there, that is
Edit: Here's the thread where I got the theme from. It's the second picture after the Update in big bold letters. You can change the background to whatever you want and the icons are customizeable. Whatever your top six icons are in the full icon screen, that's what's going to be along the bottom. http://forums.crackberry.com/f83/tod...me-bold-76350/
I'd also like to recommend another app. BB weather off the BB mobile site. The icon changes with the weather conditions and gives you the temperature and conditions when you roll over it. If you click it, it takes you to a weather web page.

I can have all of them sent to my BB with no issues. | I did set it up with a full BIS account from AT&T -- which took like 45 minutes to set up. I definitely wish I had a BES and a full Exchange server set up to try this thing out with and would be happier with the sync situation if I did -- but I guess there's only so much infrastructure we can set up for this here round robin. Dieter, I am curious about how you plan to slug the bold. I used to have a pearl and went to a curve, but found that i could still pocket it fairly easily.
I know Kevin talked about it being a bit big in the hand, but do you think this is more of a holster required blackberry. I use a holster on my curve sometimes, but I look like a dork seeing I am only a college student and not some fancy business guy.

I just watched your video on WMExperts, there are today screens from carriers and 3rd party themes. I have a today theme from BPlay and I also use Vodaphones theme which happens to be today.
For the carrier themes, you have to go into the os files on your computer and do some deleting, but its not hard. How to unlock all vendor themes
Though i don't know if the bold has all the carriers themes preloaded, all other devices do.

I would go with VibandRing or flycast as probably your best options.

I'm tired of trying to hunt down the SMS/MMS App | Personally I join the SMS/MMS client into one with the main mailbox. I hate too many links. You can do that through the options page. Once you do that, you can actually move the icons around to the top row of the screen once you press the menu button.
Also Google Sync allows you to wirelessly sync the calendar at least, no support for contacts yet. RTM (Remember the Milk) has released a client for the blackberry. MilkSync - Remember The Milk BlackBerry Application | BerryReview.com »

Make sure to get a gorgeous desktop. It'd be a shame if you have some lame default on a Bold.

You can find all sorts of information here (including details on how to WIN one of FIVE smartphones!): http://roundrobin.smartphoneexperts.com
My first phone for the Round Robin is the BlackBerry Bold and boy, do I have questions!
1. My goal is to NOT have to sync anything over USB. Can somebody help me to sync:
- Google Contacts
- Google Calendar
- Remember The Milk ToDo
2. I used the "no password trick" to get IMAP set up in GMail. However, it doesn't appear that items marked as read on GMail end up marked as read on the Bold. Can I fix this?
3. I love streaming podcasts via Kinoma on Windows Mobile -- is there similar software on BlackBerry?
4. How do I re-assign the left and right convenience keys?
5. I recall there's an "Open App Switcher" in BBOS but I forget how to do it.
6. Can somebody give me the address of the engineer who managed to stuff this gorgeous screen into this small space? I want to send him a kiss.
7. In the Default "Precision" theme, is there any way to customize what shortucts are on the "minimized view"? I'm tired of trying to hunt down the SMS/MMS App
8. Speaking of SMS/MMS: Not threaded? Seriously?
9. Any shortcuts for quickly toggling WiFi?
10. Other Must-Have apps I should install? This is an official Round Robin Contest Thread | Ok, I am of no help, just wanted to say HI to Dieter and be in the running for a bold, though I don't really want one-lol

I agree with was was said earlier. Viigo is a must have for RSS. I also use Docs2Go. Dieter, you have probably used this on another device. The only problem with D2G on a BB is no syncing. I hope this is in the works.
