a lot of things are pretty expensive on that side of the world.. as for the "good reason not to live there" comment... you've clearly never been.

One good reason. It wasn't a slam against someone's home. People are getting overly sensitive.

So you're telling me when I go I can turn a pretty penny selling my Bold at the end of my trip and claiming an insurance replacement when I get back. This will come in handy.

at current rate, $1,199.00 NZD = $747.624 USD. so im sure the article is listing it in NZD guys. $750 USD souds a bit overpriced, but more reasonable. not everything you read is always gonna be in USD.

I forked out the money just this morning. Yeah, it hurt. But it's sold as an elite phone, and you don't discount stuff like that. People that want it pay for it. I wanted it. I paid for it :-)

NZ$. I paid NZD$1119 because I got such a pathetic phone plan, I only got NZD$80 off Can't show you the receipt as it's charged to our phone account. So that's still about USD$700. Sucks eh? But the risk of bringing in an overseas BB only to find it won't work is a little risky right now, so we take a deep breath and smile while we're being taken advantage of.

As an aside, I did manage to 202 my bold in 20 minutes after my first battery pull. Well done me.

A little on edge watching it reload now.

Is this the same one?

BlackBerry Bold 9000 | Postpaid Phones | Mobile | Telecom New Zealand

It's $880 now.

Bold is being sold for AUD 1200 by my carrier but nobody buys it outright. They sign up for contract plans and get the phone for free. Or they find other stores that sell unlocked phones for much cheaper price.

It's NZD$880 if you sign up to the most expensive 24 month plan. You may notice the "From $879..."
