USe the original BlackBerry wall charger to charge your phone.

The Blackberry has a USB port but that does not mean that you can charge it from every USB port on every PC.

The problem is that a USB port may not always be able to supply the level of current that a Bold requires to charge successfully.

If you really have to charge this way then try using a powered hub to charge but do not use that for backups of syncing unless you ave no coice.

You will not damage you phone by dong this. It just may not charge fully.

"Tests have shown" that charging with the original wall charger, charges faster and gives you better battery life than by any other method.

Look at the label on the charger and check the outpu current. My old 8310 had a charger that delivered 500mA (0,5Amps) - the same as a USB port at 5 volts. My new 8900's charger says it delivers 700mA which is more than a USB port is supposed to deliver. Even so my 8900 charges well enough on my beat up old Dell laptop.

Perhaps you can check the label on you Bold's charger to see what the output current rating is.

It won't hurt it. I didn't have an issue for along time, then one day pulled it off the cable and it had barely charged. Switched to the wall charger that night.

Put the phone lower than the PC, then the voltage can flow faster downhill.

What a good idea. I never thought of that. Also make sure that the cable has no knots in it.

When I charge with my USB it takes forever as well... I just use the regular charger.

Also, if you wet the ends of the cable before you plug them in you will get a better connection.

As verified through the engineering screen my Bold pulls 1350 mA from the AC adapter and only 500 mA when connected to the back of my PC.

I've heard it's generally better to charge most devices through the adapter versus USB. It leads to longer battery life in the long run.

Most desktop pcs, the usb ports on the rear output more than the usb ports on the front. Some are primary sockets onboard to the motherboard while others are secondary that do not produce much power.
