Hello, my friend has a Bold loaded with 4.6.0.190.
I was wondering what the latest stable official is and if I can upgrade it for her using the Desktop Manager 5.0 I have on my PC (that I have been using for my Storm for the past month) ... and if there's a document that'd show me how to do it easily...

Oh, also, no biggie if I shouldn't use DM5. I can install DM4.7 (if I have it somewhere here) on my laptop and do it through there.

Another thing, it's for Rogers. Just saw the sticky thread.. I think I can take it from there, but would that AT&T .297 official OS work well with Rogers?

I personally love .282, it is official and have never had a problem with it! Great memory manager, and great battery life...the latest official is .297 which I've never used but I hear is not much different than .282 so I dnt bother upgrading since is wrkin great for me...

The official AT&T .297 will work on any carrier as long as you delete the Vendor.xml file

PS: Where can I find .282? Can't seem to locate it.

I downloaded this file from the sticky posted: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel508_PL4.0.0.243_A4.6.0.297_AT_am p_T

and did the install. Everything went well except for two things:
The version shows up as .282 instead of .297
AND my friend is having issues with her BBM, making calls, receiving calls, etc. What's going on?

Any help pleaseee?

When I get her to do myver on her bbm (when it actually works), it shows up as:

9000/4.6.0.282

Reverted it back to .92 which was the original OS since I'm not getting too much help here.

I would say check your Add/Remove programs and make sure that 297 is installed on your machine.

1. Don't use DM to load an OS
2. Do a backup of her data using DM
3. Do a backup of her 3rd party apps using BBSAK from here. Just register for the site for free and you can download.
4. Install the new OS that you downloaded (297)
5. Remove the vendor.xml file from here

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

6. Load the new OS using loader.exe from here

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

7. Restore her data using DM
8. Restore her 3rd party apps using the directions found here

She's still having inermittent problems, like calls dropping, BBM going offline, messages not getting delivered, calls going straight to her VM, etc, lol

To answer your question though, I went to my laptop and downloaded DM4.7 and then proceeded to download the OS from this link.

That is really odd, as ATT doesn't have a 282 for the Bold 9000. Just make sure you download the 297 for the Bold 9000.

I know. Really weird.
Right now it shows "9000/4.6.0.92" because I brought it back to original. And here's a screen shot that shows I have .297 loaded up on the computer.

Anyways, just make sure you follow my instructions in order. If you have 297 installed right now on the pc, uninstall it and then follow my instructions.

Currently, my DM4.7 asked to update it to 5.0 and I'm updating it. Hope it doesn't matter.

I don't know. I use DM 4.6 as my OS is 4.6 so I never saw the need to upgrade.

Maybe I should uninstall all Blackberry software from my PC, redownload DM4.6, redownload a the OS and follow your instructions?
