Default 3G Speedtest on my Bold (screenshot)

Rogers Wireless in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.

The 3G speed is about what I thought it would be. That's about 6x faster than a dial up modem, right? People in rural areas may want to look into tethering if they can't get cable or dsl to their homes.

Your thoughts?

Anyone else have any speed tests they've run on their Bold?

Sorry about that:

CNET Bandwidth Meter Speed Test - Bandwidth Test

You have to enter your area code. That box did not display correctly the 1st time I tried it. I refreshed the page and it worked.

Rogers Wireless: The FASTEST WIRELESS PROVIDER ANYWHERE! lol.

untouched picture.

I think the website test is slightly off.

I can`t recommend that site, unless you want to impress friends in a bar how much faster your phone is...

For comparison, I am seeing readings like;

233kbps
287kbps
318kbps
361kbps
421kbps

This running the CNET test on a Windows XP laptop through a Vodafone UK 3G Connection via Bluetooth to a Nokia E70. (running the CNET test site).

Will repeat this test when I get the BOLD later this week.

I'm getting pretty much the same on my Bold...but it wouldn't break 400kbps and that's right from the Bold browser

location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-Rogers Wireless.

That's pretty inaccurate...you'd be surprised at how anal the cable and phone companies are when it comes to that...Wireless carriers don't care..more towers the better..they look for people in rural areas with lots of land just to ask them to slap a cell tower on.

lol.

So I ran it again cause it didn't seem right, but now it's showing 418.5Kbps which is round what I usually get when I run speed tests. Guess the first time something was off. Back to reality.... =/
