Default 30 Dollar Charge!!!!!

My wife signed up for some facebook IQ Quiz, they send random text messages to her phone, today we get the bill and there is a 30 dollar Charge from a third party!!!! For 6 Messages, I called rogers and she said there is nothing they can do?? I sent a stop text to a number the rep provided me with. Has this happend to anyone else? Thanks!

it happens when you sign up for what are called "premium services" Usually you can play dumb and they will provide a credit the first time, depends on who you get, then provide you with the tools stop these messages from coming. I've had customer sign up for similar things and then get out of the charges the first time and then warned that they will have to pay next time. Try calling back and talking to billing and seeing what they can do for you.

Cheers

..You make it seem as if it just randomly happened... third-party premium services have a double opt-in procedure that requires confirmation of the charges associated with the service. What exactly DO you expect Rogers to do?

Dood, you should make sure that you wife has unsubscribed from the stupid IQ quiz or don't eb surprised when you see another $30 charge next month.

This is out of Rogers' hands .......

I wonder if this is just part of the overall test?

Default Your fault

Its not the carriers fault. You should always read the fine print before signing up for anything.

My god! It happened to me too. Each message costs $2. There is a micro writing on the bottom of the page about it. When I got my bill I was so angry I wanted to post it everywhere (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter etc) to make people aware of this robbing s**t company. Can u believe that? I didn't even sign up just answered their f...ing question. Next thing I knew was the next question and the next one and so on endlessly. F..ing s**t.
Ugh I'm still extremely angry that some can do anything without being punished.

My motto is never sign up for stuff that sends you texts. Always a scam. I worked for sprint and or TELUS. And honestly. It isn't Rogers or any carriers fault because it's 3rd party.

An example. You wouldn't call up Sony if your cable went out an ask for a refund. And you wouldn't call your cable if your TV broke

It sucks that they scam you. But you gotta take your lumps. Sorry

If you have an inch of doubt in your mind that you may get charged for such service. Then don't sign up for up. Simple as that.

Always read the fine print. And yes, there is always fine print. If you don't see it, that's whey they call it fine print.

The carrier only provides the capability of having such services available. The 3rd party is the one who makes the money from it. Not the carrier, the carrier only acts as the billing agent to the 3rd party.
