Exclamation Visual Voicemail - Calling All Sprint BlackBerry Users!!!

Are you on Sprint and you want to have Visual Voicemail without any additional cost?

Did you know that Sprint includes Visual Voicemail for Samsung Instinct users?

I do, and I believe that we are on the only major carrier that won't allow us to forward unanswered calls to a visual voicemail system (YouMail, PhoneTag, etc.) without a charge.

Currently we have to pay $.20 per forward which really makes this financially ridiculous. If you averaged (3) voicemails a day, it would cost you almost $20 a month in addition to your regular charges.

I would like to start an email campaign to "dan@sprint.com", which is Dan Hesse
Sprint CEO, to ask for him/them to allow us to forward our unanswered calls to a visual voicemail system WITHOUT the $.20 charge.

I am hoping that maybe Sprint will respond if they receive enough emails from us telling them that we want to be be able to forward our unanswered calls for no charge, like all the rest of the major carries let their BlackBerry users do for visual voicemail forwarding.

I don't see how forwarding our unanswered calls would have a negative impact on Sprint. One representative told me that Sprint wanted to avoid having customers forward calls to another mobile number to avoid additional charges on the first mobile number, but we are asking for unanswered calls only. If you don't answer the phone you can't talk anyway.

We will see if Sprint is really concerned about improving their customer service reputation. Lets start emailing Mr. Hesse at dan@sprint.com and let him know we would like this problem fixed.

What do you think?

Jon

I'm not sure I understand what Visual Voicemail is exactly, can you explain it to me?

A quick explanation is it is an automated system that has a phone number you forward your unanswered calls to. The person leaves a voicemail on this system and the system sends you an notification that you received a voicemail. The notification shows who called, when, how long the message is, and you can have the option to listen to it as a sound file or see the message in text. Your voice messages pop up like your emails do, each individually, and you can re arrange or delete them.

This is all done independently from your normal voicemail from Sprint, which you probably would use anymore.

This is one of the few services the the iPhone has that I wish I had.

If you search the blogs, you'll find a full description of both YouMail and PhoneTag.

I see, that does sound nice, if I didn't care about cost how could I forward my unanswered calls to one of those services or should I look on their websites for instructions?

The websites have a detailed process for setting up your BlackBerry along with your number and carrier.

With Sprint, we have to call customer service and request to have our unanswered call forwarded.

You will get the number to forward to when you set-up with one of the visual voicemail companies. They don't charge to provide the service, only Sprint does to forward the calls.

Let me know if you need any help.

So I emailed dan right, and this is what I get from the rep that emailed me back,

Im sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the features you currently get from sprint, but we do no anticipate offering this service for the blackberry. Should you want to do it there are several programs available via the internet.

This is after I sent them a short and sweet email

This is what I sent to them:

***********
Hi Dan,

I wanted to ask for a service to be provided to BlackBerry users on Sprint that is provided to us on other major US carriers.

Currently, a Sprint customer has to pay $0.20 every time we have an unanswered call forwarded to a visual voicemail company. I am asking for this to be provided at no cost so we can have the added benefit of visual voicemail. This is a feature that you felt important enough to include with your new Instinct and, I am sure you are aware that it is provided on the iPhone.

I don't see any negative affect to Sprint, as only unanswered calls would be forwarded, or calls that would have gone to voicemail anyway.

I feel that by not charging for forwarded unanswered calls, Sprint BlackBerry (and other smart phone users) would have a great added benefit included with our current monthly contract fees.

It would also show that Sprint is aware of the intense competition in the smart phone market and wants to provide its customers the latest available features it can to maintain its customer base.

Thank-You for your time,

Jon N. Hohol

Sprint Customer since Jan. 2008

I have only received a "we're working on your answer" confirmation email, but I'll post what they say when I get it.

I sent an email too! I wanna use YouMail too! I have an account that I have been unable to use -- no, unwilling to spend .20 per call to use a FREE service!

it may not be dan's email directly, but there is a support team that handles the emails....here's the thing, YOU DONT NEED TO EMAIL DAN DIRECTLY!!!

I work for sprint, and anytime there is a issue that cant be fixed in the retail channel, customer service, or retentions, it goes to dan@sprint.com, and when it does, it always gets resolved.

So no, its not a "stunt", there is actually a team that handles the emails, whether it be requests for things(like this) or problems.
