Default Premier Customers

I just wanted to share what happened on my account. With all the buzz surrounding the release of the Tour, I thought I'd call Sprint to make sure that I was eligible. So let me run through the events since the announcement of the Tour.

1. I logged onto my account and saw that I was only eligible for $75 dollars off on a new phone.
2. I call Sprint to inquire as to why its not $150 dollars since I've been with Sprint since 2000. I find out that my mother's line, which was added to my account in 2005, was the primary number.
3. I ask Sprint to change the primary number to my number instead of my mothers. The rep does that and says that it will appear on my next bill which started 1 July. I think that my account online will indicate $150 off a new phone instead of $75.
4. This morning I log on to my account again and it still says $75 off.
5. I call Sprint again.
6. The rep tells me that I'm not eligible for the 150 until January 2010.
7. I tell her how is that since I've had my Curve since May 2008.
8. She asks me if I got a new phone in January of 2009.
9. I say I dropped my phone and had it replaced in January. The Rep puts me on hold
10. She comes back to tell me that I'm eligible for the $150 off but I have to go through Telesales to get it because of the error in my account.

So if there is anyone out there that is having issues getting the premier discount, be nice to the rep and hopefully they'll be able to help you. She was ready to upgrade my phone right there on the phone, but I'm waiting till 12 July.

Thank you all.

I am in almost the identical situation...I have had my line for 9 years, added 3 more lines to that account over those 8 years....I got my curve last July and now they are saying that one of my sub lines is actually my primary line (which it isn't). I have called the last 2 months and 2 different reps have told me they would make that my primary line....I am going through e-care to try and get it straight now so I have record of it....waiting on a reply as I type.....

I'm glad I never had that issue. I've been with Sprint 9 years and I've added 3 lines over time, but never experienced an issue with my number being the primary. I would loose my mind if I were to have an issue with that when it's time to upgrade to the tour! lol

I had that happen to me like 5 years ago (before the SP program). I had my Sanyo 8200 replaced through insurance and it showed up on my account that I bought a new phone and they took away my two year upgrade credit. I had to haggle with the CSR for over an hour to get it resolved.

As far as being nice goes...I was nice for the first 45 minutes. I got tired of the rep insinuating that I was lying, so the beast got out of the cage. Problem got resolved really fast after that.

That was when Sprint's CS was horrible though. I've been with Sprint since 1999 and I must say, they've really turned it around in the last couple of years or so.

Yeah, I have been with Sprint since 1999 and have had far less issues with CSRs in the past couple of years. Actually when I called about a question last time, the guy made a couple of changes to my billing structure and made it cheaper. He said it was a promo deal ans they like to take care of their long time customers. I couldn't believe that someone would make my bill $20 cheaper by just talking with someone on the phone. 2-3 yrs ago that would never happen. They wouldn't say a thing.

I have not had it happen to me, but did have it happen to a friend. He had his phone replaced under TEP, and Ascurion shipped him a new, not refurbed phone. When he activated the replacement someone at Sprint did something to the account that reset his date.

I had my sprint acct for 10 years with 2 lines and when I moved to another state I ported my Tmobile numbers to my sprint acct since they had the area code of state I am now in and canceled the Tmobile acct. My subline was made the primary line and I had to call to have the change made.It was difficult only because the port was done wrong, the rep ported my subline onto the primary line. I have to wait until my month rolls over on the 5th to see if the change that was made correctly and I hope this won't affect my upgrade status which starts on July 13!

Your number 9 point mentions you got your phone replaced, if you got it replaced through asurion then i believe that counts as an upgrade, im pretty sure thats what i was told when i had my touch replaced a while back.

i also have a question about the premier thing. the pamphlet in the mail said something about free shipping/activation. would i be able to get the free activation in-store? or is it limited to online/telesales only?

So the Premier account gives you the $150 discount after one year as opposed to $75 right? I want the Tour for the $199 new contract price. why can't they just let us renew our contract and give it to us for the bottom price, sooo frustrating! anyone have any ideas?

It sure shouldn't. You are paying for the insurance and then pay a deductible on top of that. Assurion are a bunch of idiots which is why from now on I will be getting my insurance through squaretrade.

Yes, you get new customer pricing every year on premier.

The reason they won't let you resign a contract every year is they subsidize the price of the phone and make their money back on your monthly charges based on a two year agreement. Most companies have a one year option but the phone will be significantly more expensive, I am not sure if Sprint does it anymore at all.
