Default What's Up With The Partial Discounts?

I have a family plan on T-Mobile with 5 lines, all blackberrys and I spend about $300 a month and I have been with them since 2003. My friend wanted a curve, but wasn't due for a full upgrade, so she did the partial upgrade in September. The full 24 months will be up in March. She paid $369.99 for the partial upgrade, now I haven't done a partial upgrade (6 months into the contract) in almost 2 years, but when I did it it didn't affect the 22 month full upgrade. I called customer care tonight to see when the full upgrade for her line is due not realizing that now, when you do a partial upgrade you have to sign a new 2 year agreement! WHY would anyone knowingly sign another 2 year contract on a $90 discount?? She is not available for a full upgrade now until June 2010! I asked how this made sense and why would you ever do a partial discount if this was true? I asked if there was a way around this since she is now due for a full upgrade if she hadn't taken the partial. He told me no. NO, NO, NO! Nevermind how much I spend or how long I've been with them or the referrals I have given. He then informed me if I wanted the 8900 I could obviously pay cash or take my $50 or so discount and lock in for ANOTHER 2 years. I feel this is utterly ridiculous! My friend isn't the brightest and I wasn't with her when she bought the phone but I know the guys in the store she went to and I'm sure they didn't explain this to her and I know she doesn't read what she signs. Not really happy with the Great T-Mobile right now!

That partial upgrade must have included a new 2 year contract thus affecting when you'll get the full discount.

Even a partial discount requires a new 24 month contract, looks like that's what happened.

I know that this is what happened. My point is why would anyone utilize this then? My friend signed blindly and they didn't tell her in words that this would effect her upgrade status. I'm more mad that they won't work with me on this with the amount I spend and the years of loyalty and the referrals.

Partial discounts are available to customers who upgraded recently. You should try to call retentions and they might be able to help you upgrafe with a full discount.
