I just tried it on my old Curve with the radio turned off and the WiFi on and it wouldn't connect. The regular browser works fine but T-Zones doesn't. This would lead me to believe that the T-Zones browser uses the phone data services rather than the 'free' WiFi. Going with that assumption I would guess that Tmo would charge you for data usage.

Of course I could be completely wrong but unless you hear from a reliable source that you won't get charged then I'd steer clear just in case.

Well I hope this helps you. The t-zone is free...at least thats what I was told by them when I first signed up with a new contract and I didn't want internet service. It carries you to there page where you can buy ringtones, game, etc... and see what your bill amount is.

Really? So even if I check all my bill summary I won't get charged per kb? I was always under the impression that if it took you there ic cost!

Anyone else want to confirm this? It sounds to good to be true.

If you don't have a data plan you'll only be able to stay in T-Zones and the 3 tabs (Downloads, Web, and Account)
Don't worry about overages because in the 3 years that I have had T-Mobile, not once have I had an overage (with or without a data plan) with internet features.
I think they don't even let you get overages with the internet. If you don't have BIS it wont say EDGE in upper case it'll say it in lower case (edge) so you'll know you won't be able to use the Blackberry browser

Now...
That doesn't mean you cant use the internet through Wi-Fi.
Open your browser then go to Options > General Settings > and change your default browser from Internet Browser to Hotspot Browser and surf away
