Default T-Mobile Rant!!!

So I bought a 8900 from T-mo on Feb 11th. I am currently with At&t but decided to just buy another line with T-Mo. The first phone number I got, I get about 20 calls a day from bill collectors. I am getting harrassed badly. So I get a new number 5 days ago from T-Mo and now getting about 10-15 calls a day from bill collectors asking for a Theodore Love. I mean WTF?!?! Also, every call I make even show up on my wifes work caller ID as Theodore Love. I am definately not Theodore Love. Anyways, I am going to take back this 8900 to T-Mo and just wait for At&t to release it in late March or early April. I am tired of getting harrassed by bill collectors from previous users of these numbers. They must not hold onto the numbers for very long until they reissue them. There are others reasons that I am taking it back but those reasons are not regarding T-Mo so I will leave that out.

LOL. That sucks. I hate calls like that. Does T-Mo charge for changing numbers like AT&T does?? I mean I know AT&T gives you one change a year free, but after that you have to pay. Maybe if T-Mobile did that there wouldn't be this problem. I know their prices are real low and stuff, but like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

No they did not. I only had the phone 3 days when I changed it. That was not my fault. They have great customer service but like you said, I get what I pay for(that means somebody elses bill collectors LOL).

I have had the same issue with T-mobile, AT&T and Verizon. All companies recycle numbers, and you are bound to get numbers that were other peoples. If you just give it a week or two they usually calm down a lot.

Theodore Love is a nice name. I would probably get all the ladies with a name like that.

I've been with T-Mobile for 6 years now, changed my number 4 times and never experienced anything like this before. Tough luck I guess...

Numbers are recycled after about 60 days of being inactive/canceled from the previous subscriber. You never know what you'll get when you change your number.

As for the caller id issue, it takes up to 72 hours for t-mobile to update the new caller id information to Verisign, the company they use for caller id. If it's beyond the 72 hours, it's out of t-mobile's hands in the hands of the landline provider. Some update caller id monthly but others may only do it quarterly or semi-annually. Call the landline provider and find out the status.

Garz,

I had that same problem, when I got my first number with AT&T, when going from analog to GSM. Took almost an entire year to get all the calls for "Martian and Mindy" to stop coming in. I still to this day get an automated call every now and then from Blockbuster about my videos being overdue. Might be time to actually get a Blockbuster account!

It used to be, before cell phones and number porting got to be so popular, that you'd rarely get a number that had been active just a few weeks before you got it.

Yeah I hear you. I want to keep my Bold and my regular number with At&t so Im just going to wait for At&t to release it so I can just use one number and just switch the SIM card out between devices and not worry about anymore calls for Mr. Love or anybody else.

I got repeated calls from someone trying to repo a car.... I'd had the same number for a couple of years, maybe even 3-- ported it from Sprint. I can definitely feel how you would be annoyed by it though... Bill collectors are annoying, but 1 million times more annoying when it's not for you. We even had them calling my job for people who no longer worked there. Sucks..

Eh if you know what the bill collectors are calling about, they broke the law by telling you without confirming who you are ...

Dude seriously? bill collectors are brainless scum, if that's the only law they broke it must be an off day for them. Go to blockbuster give them the number and they'll look the account up. Give them your id to prove who u are and that's that.

Thank you for your high opinion of bill collectors. Work in collections yourself for a while, and listen to the lies you get told. As for bill collectors breaking the law, there is a lot of time spent training new associates, and considering the potential for lawsuits for violations, or even perceived violations, of the FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS PRACTICES ACT, we are very cognizant of the law.

It is sometimes a very unpleasant job, especially if you have to do any field work, but it is a job none-the-less. I have been threatened with physical harm, and even death, over a $2000 television.

Sorry for taking this so far OT. Mods, as a moderator myself in another forum, feel free to take this down if you must, though I was careful not to be offensive in my post.

I ahve had my # for 6 yrs and still get a call for someone other then myself. As of recently I have an old lady harrassing me looking for a Beverly, I have asked for her number so that I may call her but she hangs up on me..... Sometimes I think it is just misdialing of people other times it is recycling phone numbers... I thought that porting your number was suppose to help put a stop to that. Sorry to hear that you are having so many problems .. I guess Mr. Love is happy not to be getting those calls anymore
