Wow, very nicely done. I do wish someone would provide a similar set of instructions for tethering the Sprint 8830WE.

Please? Anyone?

I'm going to try this out tomorrow, when I go home.

In the meantime, if this works for anyone else w/8320 on Vista, please let me know.

Thanks for the instructions, I've been on the hunt for a few days. It'd be nice to use my laptop at work without using their internet.

I've been using my phone as a modem for quite some time following the directions that are posted in the How-To forum. I have TMobile and the 8320. Here's the link How To Use Your Blackberry As A Modem

Thanks for bringing it over here though. However, a quick search pulls that How-To guide right up http://forums.crackberry.com/search....rchid=10545363

That guide needs to be updated

+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”mobileinternet” If you have a Suncom sim

It took me a hour with Tech Support in order to get it working.
I did follow the 'guide' however it was missing the CORRECT setup if you had a SUNCOM SIM

Default HOW did you do it?

I followed the directions and there is no modem for the 8320 Tmobile blackberry listed in the modem devices on my XP Dell. I have Blackberry Manager 5.0 running with phone connected via usb. I don't have Roxio installed anymore since Dells come with Roxio and so does the Blackberry manager which nukes the Dell Roxio when installed. I had to uninstall all of it and just use the Blackberry manager with no Roxio. So what am i missing beside Roxio?

Now the question will become "is unlimited data really and truly unlimited".

I just thought I would post this, I don't know if it's been addressed elsewhere in the forums, but I just spoke with a tmo customer care rep and was informed that "unlimited data" truly does mean unlimited. They used to throttle usage @ 10 MB but that has since been removed. I verified that there is no ceiling on what you can use, and there are no overage charges involved as long as you have the unlimited data plan. So tether away!

I am unemployed and use my berry as a modem exclusively, and i use it day and night d/l files galore, movies..albums.. you name it. Yes it is truly unlimited data, because i have never paid 1 cent over my data package cost. So dont be afraid to tether, it is free if you have unlimited data.

Thanks for these directions! Very useful.

Alternatively, the new Desktop Manager 5 comes with the Modem tethering feature, so you just have connect your BB and push "connect".
