Default myFaves phone compatibility

So it looks like I'm going to hop on the carousel of exchanging my 8900 in hopes of getting a non-defective one, and I was wondering: If I get a cheap unlocked Nokia phone, would myFaves still work? Obviously I want to know because I'll be without a phone every time I ship my 8900 back, and I'm just thinking I can pop my SIM card in some cheap Nokia phone and still be able to make calls and texts (I'm guessing no data since it's BIS). I'm also asking because TMo has some non-myFaves phones on their site, so it has me wondering if you have to have a compatible phone to use the service.

Thanks

You can use any phone with My-Faves. You will not have
Any visual confirmation or program, but you can set your
Five from the website.
