Default BB plan on a non-berry device?

So here is a question. Can I take my SIM out of my 8900 and put it into a G1 or other smartphone and still have a fully functioning data plan? Or would I have to switch to one of the generic unlimited data plans? I want to try this out, but am scared to screw something up.

If I recall correctly, you can use a BlackBerry data plan with any other device but you can't use any other plan with a BlackBerry. Could be wrong though

no. if you were using AT&T, the system will recognize you are not using an iphone data plan and send you an automated messagess telling you to upgrade or it will or something like that. i dont know what it would do on t-mobile.

It won't work. There are different data packages for other phones. The G1 has its own and the other data devices have a generic SmartPhone package.

It doesn't tell you that it will upgrade you if you don't. It just tells you that you're using the wrong plan and visual voicemail won't work. You can even call in AT&T and ask them to stop sending the texts (have them remove the solicitation feature). Although now, with the 3.0 update iPhone's will not work on any other data plans besides iPhone specific plans, but there is a way to get around that.

just try it out. i know 100% nothing bad is going to happen. worse comes to worst, the internet would not work. then just put back ur sim on the 8900 when you want to use em.
dont worry man, it's not the iphone!
goodluck!
