Default How to get 3G on a Storm

I am posting this everywhere and not getting anything back. I have a great set of service books installed that allow me to use all features of my Storm on the AT&T network. I was told, unofficially, by an AT&T rep that if I can find a way to remove the Verizon software from the phone, I will be able to use AT&T 3G. Any suggestions or directions are appreciated. And if anyone want s the service books for theirs that I paid for, just ask and I will send them to you.

You can't get 3G on the storm. The Bold is the only 3G Blackberry available. Sorry but the rep was wrong in telling u that it can be 3G. Only edge is available.

im pretty sure the Storms hardware is physically not able to handle 3G. nothing you will do will make it 3G. not to mention, who the heck pays for service books and why????

I just watched a comparison between the 3G iPhone and the Storm. It was said that they are both 3G and the Storm even loaded faster than the 3G iPhone in the video.

Global Connectivity
The BlackBerry Storm allows for global roaming--from Europe to South America to Asia--and also provides 3G data speeds on select international networks, giving you high-speed connectivity when you're abroad. The Storm offers Verizon Wireless's fast 3G EV-DO Rev. A/CDMA connectivity in the United States, and UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz) and quad-band GSM/EDGE/GPRS connectivity for use outside the U.S. The Storm comes pre-installed with a SIM card, so customers who plan to travel abroad can activate global service at the time of purchase or by calling Verizon Wireless prior to leaving the U.S. For those who travel abroad frequently, the company's Global Value Plan offers discounted roaming charges on calls made to and from 130 countries.

If 3G is available on select international networks, then it is capable. Now that we've got that straight, does anyone know how to get it to work on AT&Ts 3G network?

I think it can't, Storm 3G american bands are for Ev-DO networks aka: "verizon" and HDSPA(AT&T network) for Asia Networks "2100 mhz". AT&T use 850Mhz...

Because the Storm is a CDMA device, you won't be able to get the 3G, it will only get EDGE speeds. It will never be able to get 3G, until ATT gets a BB touchscreen device. Until then, you are out of luck.

You CAN'T. The frequencies of AT&T's 3G networks are different from what the Storm is capable of roaming on internationally.

I work tech support for att...trust us you cannot get 3G to work on the Storm with ATT, both 9500 and 9530 3G bands are not the same as AT&Ts US band...overseas depending on the network there you can, but here in the US you cannot...plus I had the storm on ATT as well and its just not possible...what they are talking about was that with the phone you have verizon service books straight out of the box and you need to get AT&T service books on it so it will be able to connect on the data network

I'm on the same boat as nutritiondr. I can't even get EDGE, my STORM stays on edge reception. I followed all the directions posted on here and still no go. I use my storm on ATT in the Caribbean with only edge reception. Any takers?

Not true!
Storm is CDMA AND GSM capable. 3G GSM is only capable in Europe NOT North America as it uses a frequency that the Storm does not have because it is CDMA.

Is there a difference when the edge id is lower caps? I read that the fast service with edge was all caps.
