I get this message whenever I try to view a website on the WiFi at work. I'm wondering if anyone can help me troubleshoot.
When I check for WiFi networks, it comes up and I can seemingly connect to it as at the top of the screen I have "ROGERS - admabeap". I assume this wouldn't show up if I couldn't connect. There is a WEP and I believe I have it entered correctly. Is it possible to connect to the router even tho I have the incorrect WEP?
I have checked my settings, and Data Services in Mobile Network Options is on.
In WiFi Diagnostics this is what I get:
Current Profile: admabeap
SSID: admabeap
AP MAC Addresss: 00:15:70:40:0D:40
Security Type: WEP
Association: Successful
Authentication: Successful
Local IP Address: 10.22.53.53
Signal Level: -66 dBm
Connection Data Rate: 54 Mbps
Status: Network acquired
Authentication Failure Reason:
Network Type: 802.11b/g
Network Channel: 11
Pairwise Cipher: Not Applicable
Group Cipher: Not Applicable
Gateway Address: 10.22.52.1

Primary DNS: 10.22.52.11

Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0
Server Domain Suffix:
Certificate: Not Applicable
Software Token: Not applicable

The WiFi logo stays gray, never gets white.
Any advice would be appreciated, if you need more info let me know and I can post it or try whatever you want.
P.S. I have done a battery pull and it didn't change anything.11-07-08 11:38 AMLike 0 - in INTERNET>OPTIONS>Try switching the browsers:
INTERNET BROWSER, HOTSPOT, and usually your Carrier.
Make sure all the JAVA stuff is checked
Sometimes it is the fixed router not the phone.
Try a different location in the WIFI area.
This can be tricky to find a sweet spot.12-10-08 08:36 PMLike 0 - I have this same issue, not a browser issue. It's something to do with the Wi-Fi connection. I've gotten this issue when I need to enter a guest password on a open connection. I've enabled all the Java and changed the browser from IE to Hotspot to Blackberry and still get the communication error. Im assigned an IP address and DNS, Gateway and Subnet....12-29-08 03:04 PMLike 0
- Hello My friend, did you get this fixed? I am having exactly the same problem with Curve 8320. I am able to browse at my brother's house who has a different ISP and Wifi router. Not at my own house. What did you do to fix it?

If you have access to the router you are trying to connect to check the IP address, and subnet mask to see if they match what your phone has listed. All the information you got from WiFI diagnostics should match between your phone and the router. Then look at the DHCP table and make sure your phone's MAC address and IP address also match.
I've had problems when moving from one AP to the next and sometimes the phone will not pick up all the new settings or gets confused about which router it is connecting to.09-21-09 02:11 PMLike 0 - I have this problem also. When I first purchased my BB 3220, I was in an area without T-Mobil service, so I just turned it on and tried to connect at a local free WiFi spot. I worked beautifully. I w2as delighted to see how myyahoo and google were reformatted to the small screen. When I returned home (Fort Lauderdale) I installed my prepaid T-Mobile sim card and have not been able to access the internet. When I do connect to an open WiFi, I always get the message "try again later or contact your service provider: I can then use my net book and connect with no problems, so I am sure it is T-Mobile that is not letting me go online. The local T-Mobile store said I could connect to their HotSpot and could make calls using wifi, but could not connect to the internet because I did not have a data plan. Blackberry tech service was useless also.
Could the problem be "Service books"? I now show the following:
MMS Config 2.0 [WPTCP]
Wap Push Config [WAPPushCo....
Wi-Fi TCP/IP Browser [Browser.....
Wi-Fi TPC/IP Transport [WPTCP]
Any suggestions.
If I remove the sim, is there any way to restore everything the way it was before I inserted the T-Mobile sim?09-25-09 04:51 PMLike 0 - I have this problem also. I'm using an unlocked Bold 9000 with T-mobile . I dont have data plan. However I was able to connect to Wifi during first couple of days after I got the phone, but since yesterday I am unable to access the interenet using wifi. It is giving "Unable to connect internet. If the problem persists please contact your service provider". The wifi is perfectly alright as I can connect to that from my laptop.
I tried restarting the phone and even rebooting after pulling out the battery. That doesnt help.
Can anyone please let me know what might be the issue and how can it be resolved.
thanks.04-22-10 03:04 AMLike 0 - I have quite the same issues.
Except that my wi-fi internet connections does work and does turn white. I use the same wi-fi connection to my computer and it works fine on the computer. Twitter on my blackberry works. But Msn, blackberry messenger, facebook and the browser no longer works. Does anybody know why is this? ..And how exactly to fix it.05-28-10 01:40 AMLike 0 - I had the same problem and I went to options Wi-Fi the name of the router MENU: Wi-Fi Tools and all I did was a Diagnostic and it started to work...

I think the problems you are having is you are smarter than the phone. All I had to do was turn on allow data. (Even though to my mind that does not include wifi!) Everything gets better... good luck and don't outhink your phone...08-22-10 12:48 PMLike 0
- Bump to this thread. I have the same issue. I graduated from a T-Mobile Blackberry 8320 to an unlocked ATT Blackberry 9000 running on T-Mobile.
I would like to use the 8320 when I have wifi connection just to read email and use google, but it never works when my T-Mobile Simcard is not inserted. I do have a T-mobile call and blackberry data plan, but I want to use it for the 9000, not the 8320.
Is there anyway at all to use the 8320 without the simcard+dataPlan, much like an itouch, meaning accessing the internet?
I am sure T-Mobile and other networks don't want you to do this, but it would be great if there was a way to get around it by adjusting the settings. Thank you.09-11-10 01:44 AMLike 0 - I have the same problem with my bold 9700. I have tried rebooting and my browser is set to "hotspot browser"
I am "connected" to the wifi network but I am unable to use the internet?
I cannot turn my data on as I am overseas and would therefore like to connect via wifi...
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.11-02-10 04:18 PMLike 0 - *** (oops - found the problem) Need to set "Options -> Mobile Network -> Data Services" to On. ***
This bites. I have an unlocked BB9700 and a T-Mobile prepaid card (try before you buy(sort of)). I had wi-fi working just fine before inserting that T-Mobile sim card and now I can't use my wi-fi.
Here's what I see, though:
- my router shows my blackberry is connected and has given it an IP of 192.168.1.8
- my blackberry says it's connected to my router, but the IP is 0.0.0.0 and wifi diagnostics says "Status: IP address no longer valid."

12-30-10 11:01 AMLike 0 - In my case I found I could connect to work and public wifi, browsing without problems, but no luck in my own house. The same error symptoms and messages (connected but no internet) as the rest of this thread.
I updated the firmware in the router (a USR2249 wireless access point) and after rebooting, it worked!
This was fine for the weekend, but then it retuned to the same problem. Went to Work Monday and it worked there. Got home, rebooted the router using the access application on the PC, and lo and behold!, it works again. (presumably for a few more days).
Any ideas on this?
Dan
PS I am pay-as-you-go and dont have a dataplan.11-28-11 01:30 PMLike 0
