I just got off the phone with a VZW CSR and was told that there was no unlimited data plan for Blackberry for $29.99 BIS users.

He said that the plan was only for 10MB of usage and that on average I go way over that per month.

I followed "daddybear"'s instructions by naming the plan and providing the code of 76318 and was told that
1) the code was a promotional code and
2) that particular plan was only for tethering.

After reading what "justreboot" posted, I thought I would give it a shot and call.

Am I misunderstanding?

Alrighty, I called VZW today spoke to another representative who was able to switch me to the new plan and backdate it to the beginning of my billing cycle. It all took less than 3 minutes.

I copied this from a post in the Verizon Wireless discussions. I thought changing to the $29.99 plan would be simple but seems that many people having problems. CSR's giving different excuses or explanations about why they cant get the $29.99 plan. But this post by mthomas1987 had me starting to worry a little bit. Any thoughts on this or should I just consider it another bs explanation from another bs CSR?

eh, if that is the case, it "should" state it is for a limited period only, but who knows.

Thanks for letting me know about this plan guys! I called in this morning to Verizon and the lady helped me switch to the $29 plan and I should see a credit on my next bill for the extra $15.

I called and they said that I was on a Family Share plan and that they couldn't apply the discount. Is this true?

Sure. The $29.99 a month can be added to a $9.99 price plan.

I switched yesterday by going directly into the store. The first 2 reps didn't know what I was talking about. I asked for the MOD, showed him the there own press release, and he took care of it. I have the family plan as well.

The $29.99 is new they state. To get it call *611 from your verizon handset and then select option 3 for technical support on PDA's. Let the agent know that you recently received or review marketing about the 29.99 minute plan and that you would like to be switched to this. It is not international. The international plan is 64.99 and the tethering option is still an additional $15.00

It is 29.99 for unlimited data and e-mail within the united states.

Hope this helps

Following up on a previous post in the Verizon Wireless forum, I just called and spoke to another CSR and he said nothing about the plan being a special. However this was the first time he had heard anything about the $29.99 plan. So who knows, let's hope its not a special and going to be going back up.

Okay. Finally got it switched and had a friendly chat with the CSR. He even stated that some of his fellow workers have no clue about what goes on in the company or are kept up to date about phones and services. He had a 8830 himself and had the same questions everyone else has. So he said that he kept going up the chain, asking his superiors what the deal was. He said that the $29.99 plan is here to stay. I asked him about whether the $29.99 plan was just a temporary special and he said he had the same question and asked his superiors. It is not a limited time offer.
He went on to say that I was not the first to complain about different explanations being given to people from other CSRs. He even admitted that when he first started working there, we would give an answer for the sake of giving an answer even if he did not know for sure (not sure why he would admit this to a customer). I'm sure most of you would have already known how CSRs are and this is no surprise to you.

I got my 8830 on halloween and was on the 44.95 unlimited plan, 3 days later they came out w/ the 29.99 BIS unlimited data plan.. After talking to the Rep on the phone and her telling me there was no plan available i told her about the 76138 code she looked it up and found it and was like "Oh, how did you have that information and i wasn't aware of it" I told her not to worry and make the change. And everything's been good since.
